Miss Edith's: Caribbean Food at its best!

by kgduke Updated Aug 31, 2007

If you want to try real Caribbean food while in Costa Rica, you have to go to Miss Edith's in Cahuita. Located at the western end of town near the police station, Miss Edith's serves up a variety of Caribbean, Costa Rican, and other foods.

Jerk chicken seems to be the specialty.

It was extraordinarily hot in the restaurant even though it was open air. No one seemed to mind, however, when I pulled chairs out onto the path next to the restaurant for a little dining al fresco.

Miss Edith's: What's all the fuss about?

by bpwarne Updated Feb 14, 2007

After reading so much about Edith's in different travel guides, we were really anticipating a fantastic meal. We actively sought out this restaurant based on various travel guide recommendations. Our verdict: not as good as anticipated. We both had hot jerked fish, snapper and grouper I believe. Portions were large and very tasty. Edith did not come across as the friendly, jolly person described in the tour books. This place is good but not excellent by any means. It is over priced by Costa Rican standards also. While we would eat there again, we did not on this trip. There are plenty of other great little sodas/restaurants along the Caribe coast of Costa Rica with more reasonable prices.
