    Undercurrents

by grets Written Aug 19, 2004

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The sea is clean, blue and warm, but don't let it fool you! If you go too far out, you will find a strong undercurrent which will drag you out to sea if you're not careful. Some days we were warned not to swim straight out from the lodge, but walk a little further along the coast to a more sheltered bay.

The waves were high and strong and made swimming most uncomfortable a lot of the time.

    Poisonous snakes

by grets Written Aug 19, 2004

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This little baby - a yellow eye-lash viper - was curled up in a bush alongside the boardwalk from the lodge to the beach.

He is extremely poisonous, so steer wekk clear of him! Some people were going uncomfortably close in an attempt to get a better photograph - this is a live animal, not a statue!
