Not to be confused with the Chili Rojo Restaurant on the main street. This small bar is run by a father & daughter originally from our neck of the woods-Kamloops,B.C. Canada. The bartender was super friendly & made THE best Margaritas we had anywhere in Costa Rica! Our Happy Hour price lasted all night,I think because we were from the same hometown!.The bartender "Jose" will give you felt pens so you can add your moniker to the ceiling along with all the others who left their marks. We definately added our names & town etc.
Just got back from our second trip to C.R.(Jan./06) & the Chili Rojo Sunset bar is still owned by the same Canadians but it has been expanded in size & is now a full fledged "Reggae" bar....it also has a pool table, lots of great music & the ganja flows freely!

Every Monday and Friday locals and tourists from all over the Caribbean Coast come to the infamous Reggae parties at this bar called Bambu. It’s just south of the center of town along the beach. Just walk down the main road. Ask anyone and they’ll know where it is. Music is spilling out of this place till the wee hours of the night, and it is impressive to see both locals and tourists unite in harmony. The bar has a large stretch of beach and tables are placed along it. Not only does the beach and bar get packed, but the party even spills out into the street itself. Grab an Imperial or some rum concoction and enjoy the tropical night.
