Fantastic flora & fauna! It is a working tropical garden of spices,nuts,friuts,nursery plants etc.Take the guided tour if possible,you'll learn so much more.No one was available to take us so we did the self guided & it was still great!We took our time looking at & listening to everything & it took us about 3 hrs but you can stay all day if you want.Strawberry Poison Dart Frogs are everywhere & some of the coolest insects you'll ever see!The rare Yellow-striped Poison Dart Frog has taken up residence in their Bromilead nursery,definately worth a look see!At the end of touring around there is an area where you can taste some of the things they grow,some really interesting foodstuffs.Warning-the Durian tastes & smells awful! We bought fresh pepper to take home with us...mmm excellent! It was $5.00(US) self guided or $10.00 with a guide."Usually" only open Fri.-Mon.  Black sand and horses by TempNomadLeave a Comment Address: You can't miss it.Directions: You'll see this slim stretch of beach as you come in on the bus. Walk for a while in either direction...just be sure it's not getting to high tide!

Sorry for that tangent, but let’s back to the street ambience…there is minimal street lighting in town, so most of the lights come from stores or restaurants. Some restaurants place colorful luminaries along the road to attract customers. It’s an odd feeling walking down a dimly lit road, and it makes the town feel like a completely different one at night. Now that the sun’s gone down the locals come out from hiding; they infest the streets with contagious laughter and song. The reggae beats fill the air and smells of rum permeate your nostrils. Vividly colored lights lure you in all directions while the ocean waves crash to shore and fill the background noise. Leave a Comment

It's the best place in the area for snorkling or diving.

Allthough we didn't go, there was "Movie Night" in the open-air makeshift theater downtown every night. They always had 2 movies listed & all appeared to be new releases. Most were in english & others had spanish sub-titles. The place was always fairly full so it is a good idea to get there early for the best seats. I find it kind of amusing; almost every single person I met later on back in San José that happened to have sand fly bites was on the Caribbean Coast in the same towns I went to. Most everyone else who went to other parts of the country was spared the misery that entails. The bites are itchy and release some kind of nasty pus. You might wake up one morning and see about 500 bites all over one arm or leg. That’s the way they like to bite you. You’ll have battle scars to show for it afterwards, looking a little bit like chicken pox but not quite so bad. Leave a Comment

Birdwatching is incredible! We saw over 60 spectacular species in the 6 days we were here! Seeing the "Fruitloop cereal bird" (Keel-billed Toucan) flying around in the wild was just that.....wild! The same pair were 30 feet from our balcony amusing us with their antics every morning! So many species & so many colours!!! I was in heaven! Leave a Comment Address: Everywhere you look!Directions: The best areas to birdwatch are further back in the bush & around hotel's grounds. There are lots of natural flowers & plants for birds. The Cecropia tree is a major attractant to dozens of species.
