La Hacienda*-located 50m north of the bridge, just past the first side street, above the restaurant of the same name. A young trendy crowd meets for pre-salsa drinks, blasting rock, and reggae. (643 3460. Cover 1500. Beer 500; 2-for-1 beers M-F till 9pm. Open daily 4pm-2:30am.)
Club Ole* - across the street from La Hacienda Bar plays classy salsa and merengue. (Cover 110. Beer 550. Open F-Sa 6:30pm-4am.)
Discotheque la Central- 100m down the side street 100m south of Banco Nacional. After 11pm people head to this classic disco/bar for popular Latin and pop music. (643 3076. Cover Th-Su 800. Open daily 8:30pm-2:30am.)
Pancho Villa's* - toward the southern end of town, across the street from Mexican Joe's. After the other bars and discos close, a largely male crowd stumbles here for pricey grub and gambling. (Appetizers 1000-1500; hamburgers 738. Open daily 10am-5am.)
Ask you taxi driver to drop you in one of those. Everything else is a walk distance.

 The Beatle Bar, Jaco, Costa

It draws just about every American and English-Canadian, so this accounts for why a majority of the prostitutes in town seem to want to congregate here.
The bar had satellite TV, so we were able to keep up with the Illini basketball season and even watch the Bulls beat the living *** out of the Dallas Mavericks on their own home court. The bar also features 2 pool tables, a foosball table, and blares classic rock continuously!
Fellas, a word of advice if I may. If you go out in Jaco, dress comfortably, and treat the world as if it were your urinal. And I mean sandals, comfortable shorts, and t-shirts/wifebeaters, whatever. If you get all dressed up, like nice jeans, dress shirt, dress shoes-all you are going to do is sweat your jacobs off, and you aren't going to impress the ladies anyhow. What they really want is your money, and you aren't getting any unless you bring some. They really don't give a damn what you look like. I saw Penthouse & Maxim magazine-looking chicks walking out of the Beatle Bar (and the Blue Marlin and just about any other bar) with guys that could fit right in with any bowling team you've ever seen. Although it also serves Mexican food like pretty good nachos and incredible margaritas, it is at night when it really gets its best going for it. It doubles as bar/club with reggae, hip pop and a little bit of house music late at night and, from what I recall, good surf videos on a big screen.
(Pleast note-the picture was taken inside Nacho Daddy's. Notice the skippy towards the right with the dress shirt and jeans on, thinking he'd just go out and start scoring with the local snapper. Needless to say, it was his first day down there from Boston, and little did he know the ladies would tag Rocky Dennis just as fast as they would him, as they are whores and want monaaaay! Appropriately named due to the fact that it is located near the middle of the beach (yet not on the main strip. It's on a side street about a block down from the strip), the Discotheque La Central is probably the best dance club you will find. Nacho Daddys and Pancho Villa's are good, but La Central has a much bigger interior and has a proper dancefloor, not that I need one since I'm a white guy and don't know how to dance anyway.

It's just north up on the main road... then on your right. The Beetles Bar always has some kind of action going on... whether you know it or not... and at night 8:00-11:00 you will know what's going on. You are not pressured.... and to be honest.. many surfers and wasters play billiards in the back. It's possibly the most colorfull bar in Jaco... and on the entire west coast of Costa rica also...

Jaco is a shyte hole.. the clubs are filled with dirty hookers, expensive drinks, and peddling drug dealers. No culture. No class. Just pros & drugs. Boring & dirty. Bah!

Naturally, my friends wanted to take a gander up to Divas, above Pancho Villa's, for a look. It was probably the most run-down strip club I have ever seen (if we're not counting the Show of Shows in Cicero when I was 16 years old.) Very dark inside, sleezy people, and I think I walked out after 2 minutes.
