This is a good place for breakfast after an early morning hike in the park . It's open air with big tables. Very friendly staff.
Favorite Dish: Traditional tico breakfast is $5.00...with coffee. The dinners looked huge...and good didn't have any though.
This is a restaurant set in a 1954 plane that was captured in the Iranian contra affair. There's a printout of the whole story at the bar. The view from the back of the bar is incrediable....it looks out over the jungle.
Favorite Dish: The fish is fresh and very nice.
Lovely with wide open space , lots of wood and big fans, It overlooks the jungle and is a favorite stopping place for the monkeys mornings and evenings.
Favorite Dish: The mahi mahi sandwich is super..thought it would be more expensive ,...such a nice place, but it was $6.00.
You have to pass through Pavones to get to Punta Banco. The Cantina sits on the beach right in front of the surf break. This is possibly the worlds best/longest left hand surf break in the world.Get a drink and sit in the bar or on the seawall and watch the fun.
The breakfast and lunch area of the resort was a spacious and well appointed part of the resort. It had the usual array of juices, fruits, pastries and full breakfast items - with omelettes made to order, etc. This was also close to the part of the resort where the nightly entertainment shows were held to amuse the guests. Our time at the resort was short, so we only managed a single performance, 'Grease', and it was quite a laugh!
Two of the international restaurants at the Fiesta hotel were the Firenze (Italian) and the Cana Brava (Seafood) restaurants. These required a reservation, made on the morning of your desired day by lining up in the breakfast buffet section of the resort. Our first night was spent at the Firenze, where we enjoyed fine Italian food as well as a bottle or two of wine. In this case, I deferred to Frank in the choices because of his Italian heritage! Both the food and the service were great. On our final night, we tried the seafood restaurant, and my Red Snapper was truly delicious!
This was a clean but not fancy restaurant in the little village of Fortuna, not far away from Arenal. It had clouded over and was raining slightly when we stopped for lunch here on our bus tour to the volcano. The restaurant had a nice open atmosphere with several long tables where the food was served and the big open windows let the fresh mountain breezes blow through.
Favorite Dish: I cannot remember exactly what we had, but I do remember that it was good, as was the cold beer to wash it down! The meal was all part of our tour package.
Villa Lapas had a very nice covered outdoor restaurant for all meals. It certainly was nice sitting outdoors in the balmy breezes listening to the sounds of nature as we ate our meals! Since this was pre-VT days for me, I do not remember the details of what the restaurant served, but I do remember enjoying whatever it was that I ordered - whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner!
