Our first day in Costa Rica and our last meal had been a very dodgy bagel with cream cheese at Newark aiport. As much as I love to sample local dishes, I was so hungry at this point and desperately craving good old "meat and two fresh vegetables". It's funny how everyone seems to appologise for coming here because they feel it's not Costa Rican enough...The News Cafe serves excellent, international dishes in large portions plus they do fantastic cappuccinos.
Attached to Hotel Presidente this restaurant/bar is the perfect place to watch the World go by while having excellent fresh food and good local coffee.
Favorite Dish: I had steak! I don't eat red meat!! Jonathan says it doesn't count because it was in another country!! It was fabulous - but the fresh veg really made my day.
The News Café is located on the ground floor of the Hotel Presidente on Aveneda Central and Calle 7. It is a popular place with Americans and Tico business people. The food was very good and surprisingly reasonably priced. Try to get one of the coveted seats that overlook the street for the best people watching
