Cafeteria Kamuk: More soda!

by BEETLE_VERTE

Quepos Browsing around after our last day of fishing in Quepos, we stopped at this nice little restaurant. We found it was the Kamuk's (Best Western hotel) snack bar. They offered a varied menus, really offardable prices, welcoming service, friendly atmosphere and quite a nice view on the Pacific ocean and Quepos docks.Went back a year later, still good, cheap, clean, perfect for a quick lunch!

El Rio: Soda

by BEETLE_VERTE

Fortuna / Arenal Soda are little snack-bar like restaurants in Costa Rica. You'll find them everywhere, usually small with a few tables and stools at the counter. They'll serve tipical comidas, or typical meals, usually full plates combining rice, beans, salads, plantain and meat or fish, for a very good price, well under 10$ for two peoples including drinks of freshly squeeze fruits. This one in La Fortuna, openned on two side with view on the city and the Rio Burio, served the best Casados in town! You have to try it at least once, for the experience, but hopefully as often as you can for your health, enjoyment of the country and budget! Fruit juices are fresh and sweet.Casados are huge and tasteful and come with a weird little rice and milk desert (some like, some don't). In fact, the plate was so big, I had to switch to just rice (arroz) and meat (con meat en salsa is the best one I...

???: Breakfast in Tamarindo

by PelLihi

There is a french bakery in Tamarindo right at the entrance of town, across the hotel Pueblo Dorado. I have no idea about the name of that place but it's part of a hotel. They serve marvellous breakfast (croissant, fresh bread, cereals,...) and their garden offers a perfect ocean view!!! Croissant

Lazy Wave: Little Marisqueria (fish house) in Tamrindo

by PelLihi

This is a very, very nice restaurant in the middle of Tamarindo. It's THE place to be if you want to eat some delicious food in a nice and quiet atmosphere. The perfect place if you want to get away from all the noise and party-people (at least for one evening) in Tamarindo.Open 6pm. until 10 pm CLOSED SUNDAYS -

Witch's Rock Surf Camp: Nachos Baby!!

by PelLihi

I heard about this eatery/surf camp from my Lonely Planet guide. I ate the Nachos (check the pics). These things really are as big as ones ass. ;-)The spot itself is nice and has a great ocean view. Defenitely worth a try. The cocktails are nice too and if you're up for some surf lessons then this is also the place to be.They also offer the regular surf camp lodging and surfing type of stay, but I don't know their prices. Nachos (the only thing I tried, though)

Burger King in Tamarindo: Strange Burger King

by PelLihi

In Tamarindo I saw this Burger King. I didn't eat there, because I don't like the idea of eating Fast Food in a foreign country that has delicious meals. Therefore unfortunately I can't give you any kind of information about the price level or my degree of satisfaction. This Burger King actually was only a small "building" with a few tables and a fence around it. Looked funny. none

Zullymar in Tamarindo: Great Beach Bar to catch the Sunset and Eat Well!

by Paul2001

Zullymar was the first beach bar that I visited while in Tamarindo. I was very pleasantly surprised by the place. It is most noted for its wonderful setting for catching the sunset over the Pacific but it also serves wonderful food. As I reached the bar sometime an hour sunset I decided to have a couple of beers as I waited. I found that this is a great place to watch the surfers when the surfs up. The food and beverages are on the cheapside too. Lots of people come through here throughout the day but the action dies down after dark. The bar closes at 10pm. I had a very good cheeseburger.

Cafe' de Castillo: Maritzka y Edwardo; the friendliest in Guanacast.

by scheuer1

Two of the friendliest people we have ever met in Costa Rica and one of the best spots to stop along the road and have a few cold beers and some Tico Taco's. Maritzka and Edwardo are a Husband and wife team that run this fine Cafe' a few kilometers from Santa Cruz on the road to Tamarindo. Our spanish is very bad and yet we sat together at a table for two hours communicating and laughing together. It is an open air Cafe' with chickens running across the spotless white floor and a lazy old hound laying in the shade sound asleep. The food was well prepared and delicious, the vegetables coming from thier garden a few feet away; across the road a mountain rises up and it is so quiet you can hear the birds on the rising slope. If you can find this Cafe' consider yourself very luck; it is a trult Costa Rican experience. The Taco's; prepared Costa Rican style.

Cafe Mundo: Good food for a reasonalbe price

by hubert999

The restaurant is located in very nice old building. Both inside and outside is nice to sit. The service and food is good. I do not the direction but every cab knows how to get there its a popular place. The water served is nice it has lemon squeezed into it I only ate there once and had a steak with wine sauce and mushroms. Was of good quality. The appitizzers the sate and crab rolls are also ok. The serve good pizza which is handy when you travel with kids

Read below for multiple listings: Vegetarian and local food in Zapote&San Pedro, SJ

by OCNJBritt

Shakti Restaurant: My favorite!!! Vegetarian cuisine is hard to find in CR. Shakti, however, made up for that with the most incredible meals. Tables have gardens growing in them, yeah. Order a Morir Soniendo (the best creamsicle like shake you'll ever have). Inexpensive, no reservations, lunch and dinner. $3-6Vishnu: Vegetarian as wll but pales in comparison to Shakti. Indian eclectic with local dishes. Seriously inexpensive. $3Il Pomodoro: Italian pizza and dishes and very very tasty. $6-10Llenitas: Traditional Local fare $3Soda Montealegre: Traditional Local Fare $3Manguisimo: Italian with local dishes $3 For lunch: If ya go to Shakti, order everything. Although tipping is not typical, they deserve it. Order the veggie burger and a Morir Soniendo. For typical dinner or lunch fare, order Casado. This is a traditional dish served everywhere for lunch and dinner. It literally means...
