Monteverde Trail by Srechko Monteverde in a Rain Forest National Park with bunch of hiking trails. At the park entrance you can hire a guide or decide to walk by your self. Either way, staff will recommend you which trail to take depending on how much time you want to spend there. Hike is interesting, but except for hummingbirds and some other types of birds no other animals can be seen here. There is an interesting waterfall and a "Vista" point inside. Actually I was kind of disappointed by this park and some other attractions in this area. See more in my traps section. Leave a Comment Directions: Monteverde National Park

Crocodiles - Bridge close to Tarcoles by Srechko If you are travelling along the highway from Puntarenas to Jaco, they somewhere in middle you will make a stop at the long bridge close to town Tarcoles. Right below there is a river where you can see bunch of (not very active) crocodiles. Right after the bridge, you can see exotic parrots but you gotta be there around 4pm since that is the time when they come for supper. Leave a Comment Directions: Puntarenas - Jaco highway, right after exit for Tarcoles.

by Srechko If you come to Costa Rica you gotta see an active volcano. We stayed in Los Lobos Hotel Resort 6km away from town La Fortuna from where we had an excellent view of the Arenal Volcano. View become spectacular in the evening when you can clearly see lava erruption and hear its sound. Amazing!!! Some days clouds cover the top volcano and it could last for a long time - but we were lucky that one night we stayed there the skies were totally clear. Leave a Comment Address: Fortuna Area

Poas Volcano, Costa Rica by IstariCamino This second crater is a tiring hike away from the first, but worth the exercise. In contrast to the other Poas crater, this one is surrounded by lush vegetation and wildlife. Leave a Comment Address: no addyDirections: 55 km from San Jose

Poas Volcano, Costa Rica by IstariCamino You can drive almost all the way to the main crater of the Poas Volcano. The last hike to reach the viewing area is paved and not very steep, and the surrounding vegetation is wonderful. This crater has a sulfurous lake that you can see in the center of the picture. During the rainy season, the view is often obscured by clouds, and it is recommended that you arrive early. There is a small gift shop, cafe and restroom facilities near the parking area. Leave a Comment Address: um, don't think the volcano has a street addyDirections: 55 km from San Jose

The most beautiful view... by TempNomad This was my favorite hike while in the National Park. The views were fantastic and the hike is beautiful. We saw Panama and Volcan Poas from the same peak. Absolutely amazing. One caveat: This hike is true to its name...the winds are STRONG! Check out my Chirripo page for more scenes like this one. Leave a Comment Address: Parque Nacional Chirripo

Canopi ride! by bloorange This is a great activity you have to do while in Costa Rica. Canopi is a fun ride in the middle of the jungle, it gets you from trees to trees with the help of huge cables you will ride. Some of them are 400 meters long and 100 meters above ground! An inredible experince that will take you through monkeys and birds you will never see elsewhere. Leave a Comment Address: Everywhere in Costa RicaDirections: Manuel Antonio Tamarindo

by CatRichardson One of my favourite experiences in Costa Rica has to be White Water Rafting. We experienced it in June - the rainy season. The rivers are in full swell and this makes for amazing white water. It is quite possible for begginers to try class 3-4 rapids - challenging and great fun. For further adrenaline try class 5 as an option too! Raft companies sometime have to avoid class 5 or cancel trips when water levels are very high, so be aware of previous weeks weather. The company we paid to take us were really excellent with an impressive group of experienced guides that provided a fun day on the river and great food!
