Nightlife is pretty happening...

by VincenZzo

Nightlife is pretty happening there. Bars never close in some area, you can have a bottle of good '10 years old Brown Cuban Rum' for as a little as $3 US. You can go in disco clubs but you'll get kind of '2 years ago' really-really pop music (BackstreetBoys, etc..) and also full of tourists. Something bad in Cuba is the prostitution. It's getting better now since they got a new law, but it still going on a lot. I don't have any problem with it when it's well regulated , but here it's not and there's tons of pimps who are trying to 'sell' you there 14-17 years old kids for a night. So be nice and try to have a good judgement... When there's 4-5 girls surrounding you on the dance floor who want to get to your room for $20 US it may be pretty hard for some macros.

La Zorra y el Cuevo Jazz Club in Vedado, La HabanaOn a recent saturday, there were two groups playing, one an established classic jazz group and the other an upbest latin jazz outfit, mainly younger players. The place is decent, there are no jinateros, service is efficient, drinks very reasonably priced and the audience very appreciative of the music.I highly recommend it to those who love jazz.

It's not really about...

by Nice_Girl

It's not really about nightlife but about cuban experience, the RUM : Cuban rum is made from sugar cane syrup and is world renowned for it's quality. The ageing process is carried out in white oak barrels, in the natural environment of the island with its humid, warm climate. Havana Club, founded back in 1878, is famous worldwide with its several classes; Silver Dry (white rum), 3 years, 5 years, 7 years and Old Reserve variants. Seven years old Havana Club rum is the cocktail makers favourite because of its quality, some drink it 'on the rocks', and others prefer it straight. Typical Cuban rum cocktails are the Mojito, which North American writer Ernest Hemingway used to drink at the 'Bodeguita del Medio', today it is almost a myth to drink there; the refreshing Daiquiri, a speciality of 'El Floridita' restaurant; the traditional Cubalibre and the Havana Special or Cubata.

by Chabellita

Unfortunately, in Varadero, it have alots of discotheque with american music. Personnaly i prefer music typically cubana. You can ear this type of music in small places along the street. Also it have very good nights in the Karaoke of the Villa Punta Blanca. Also, Havana by the night it's very good with 'un mojito a La Bogeguita del medio' and with 'daiquiris en el Floridita d'Hemingway'! Finaly you must to see the tropicana show in la Havana with his extraordinary scene and his musicians and dancers.

Go downtown and ask a Cuban, where you can find a bar for locals, and they'll help you out.Good live-music, dance, local beer, and very friendly inviroment!Cheap beer, dirty toilets, crowded and hot, but such a joy to dance and meet cuban people Don't fancy

MacumbaLive show with a cover charge of $15. A high class place all the way. Save the cover charge by eating there and staying on for the show. Highly recommended, a 'must visit'.Has an outdoor setup.Try to follow the onstage dancers who get the crowd really moving.I just loved the dancing. From 11pm till 5am...NON STOP.I was exhausted! My shirt was holding a bucket of water.

El Malecón

by janchan

Having a walk on the 'Malecón' can be a very relaxing way to live a bit of Cuban life. Many people come here walking, chatting, fishing, meeting new people. It is preferable to dress as a Cuban would... so that you cannot be recognized as a 'tourist'.If you don't... you might have annoying people around, trying to sell you every kind of good (girls included !!).

by viajeromaga

In La Havana actually there isnt much to see or to do, just relax at the hotel or go to a local bar.BUT the place you must go is to the experience the salsa and mambo show at COPACABANA AND PARISIEN SHOWS.Those shows are las vegas typed, but with a tropical flavour or salsa and mambo. Live music and dancers. These shows were very famous during the 30´s, 40´s and early 50´s, just before the revolucion.

Only thing I know is El Tropicana. Hotel Nacional might still have gambling. La Rampa around L and 23 in Vedado might stil have a bunch of interesting small clubs. The show at Tropicana is spectalcular. It was featured on TV during the 2000 celebration. No.
