Watch for Cucuruchos
When crossing the mountains, you may see fruit vendors. Make sure you stop and buy some, as you may not have a chance to buy any other food on the road. But more interesting, look for the vendor selling "Cucuruchos" - a local treat of orange, guava, tamarind and papaya, wrapped in palm leaves in the shape of a cone.

Saturday night in town
sabado baracoese is the weekly celebration of people, a giant street party if you like. people from the neighbouring villages make the journey. the residents go to special lengths to look good, well groomed and well dressed. so it is a pity to see foreigners, obviously from countries richer than cuba walking around the town that night so shabbily dressed and occasionally smelly.PLEASE A CLEAN SHIRT OR A DRESS OR PAIR OF PANTS OUT OF RESPECT FOR THE LOCAL PEOPLE. I HEAR THE COMPLAINT A LOT AND THEY DONT RESPECT YOU IF YOU ARE SHABBILY DRESSED.
