X-mas atmosphere in Baracoa - in the hotels - restaurants and even at the local families
The restaurant is just great an a highlight in Baracoa.
I had a X-mas diner in this "Casa Palador" - together with my travel company.

Favorite Dish: A delicious meal of turtle meat - rice and green salade.

    Cuban Food

The area around is supurb - the food itself is basiccaly oké - the first day - day's.
But then - you better go "Casa Particular" - eating in a private athmosphere - tastefull and absolutely different

Favorite Dish: Fish-soup and Langoustines - Private people getting them from the black market.
    But so fresh and tastefull.

Open air restaurant in a coconut plantation farm

The food in Cuba is standard always the same : Rice-beans (dark or white)-salad mostly limited to tomatos - roasted bananas - chicken/fish or beaf .
Hotels and restaurants are property of the Cuban State.
Please go to private places called "Casa¨Particular" and you will have a great meal in a supurb location.

Restaurante La Punta: Best restaurant we found...

by RickL Written Dec 25, 2002

Go for the atmosphere of the remodelled fortress, Fuerte de la Punta, and its ocean view. (also cheap!).

Favorite Dish: All menu items are not necessarily available (as in most state-run restaurants). We had the chicken and it was good for the price.

Hotel Castillo on top of the Hill: Best Food For the Tourist

    entrance to Hotel Castillo

Arturo Legra Azahares, descended from the french planters leaving the Haitian revolution of 1805, is the maitre d' at this lovely restaurant. Serves dishes which the local people have forgotten how to make. Baracoan cuisine is not the same as elsewhere in cuba. in Paladares and private homes they cant make the baracoan food like Arturo and his chefs could here in the Hotel Castillo

Favorite Dish: I would begin with Calaloo, minced leaves of tuberous plants with finely chopped fish or meat and spices; fufu which is mixed in with coconut and fish cooked baracoan style with a local sauce.
I do not eat at Paladares in Baracoa since I have a wonderful retired chef living next door to me.
