    Bus from Santiago to Baracoa

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

An intermediate busstop in Guantanemo is a must. It was my first view on the Caribean sea
    -blue/green water !!
Visiting the american base itself (from the Cuban side) must be arranged.
It is a well controlled trip - but historicaly so important to the brave new world.
As from the beginning of the independancy of Cuba in 1901 - it was the most discussed political area in the world.Do not forget the opening of the Panama Canal -crises of "PIG bay" and the Rocket affair during the Kennedy President period. A third worldwar was very near !!

    Moto electrico

by RickL Updated Sep 7, 2009

This trip we got fed up waiting for other people to chauffeur us around. Times are difficult and it's harder to find a private taxi that is working or if the owner has enough pertrolio or gasolina and has the motivation to drive us. So we decided to buy one of these new electric motocycles to power us around between the surrounding villages and doing our daily errands. They are very comfortable, a top speed of 35 Km/hr, very quiet, and a range of about 40 -50 Km depending if there is one or two people using it. It cost us $987 CUC but worth it in the long run for reliable transportation.
They are readily available in the $$$ stores and when we bought ours it came in a choice of blue or blue!
