Get to know the locals. They are the best people but remember they are poor. Bring lots of clothes and toys for the children. One little girl her toy was an empty toothpaste box. We litterally gave away all my clothes and shoes except what we were wearing home. Be generous and accept and invitation for lunch or dinner. Nice place.

Well before we went to Cuba i placed a messege on internet and asked people who had been there what to bring. They told me that clothes were very important. So we brought all the t-shirts i was planning to give to the 3rd-world. We wore them overthere and when we left we gave them away. Also medication, paper, pencils, pens, reading books, magazines for the hostess, candy, soap, toys and things like that. But never give it away on the streets. Give it to the people who are inviting you in their houses or to the staff of the hotel. Doctors are in local hospitals and you can give them the soaps and paste for you theets so they can give it to the people who realy need it. Or ask you hostess. She wil know who or what need it the most. Or go to a local school, they realy can need paper, pens and pencils. You will get something back from the people you give something, like food or coffee. Take it, because that will make them proud of who they are!!!!!!!!! And when a local let you see there old car, give the man a dollar. He can buy a liter gasoil and is proud of the fact that you liked his car.
