We rented a jeep one day and drove around the area. Its the only way to get a sense of where you really are .
The Cuban people are friendly and have long ago learned to welcome tourists.
They live in simple wooden houses. usually they have some chickens and a little garden.
For now at least this side of Cuba is not overly developed.
We went on a fabulous catamaran for the afternoon . We were told the boat at belonged to Castro. That seems alittle far fetched but who knows. We anchored off a reef and had the chance to snorkel . The coral we saw was pretty amazing . We had the option of swimming ( which we did) or going by dinghy to a white sand beach .
I would highly recommend doing this excursion.
Think it cost about $70.00
This was alot of fun . The dolphins seemed to like it as much as we did . You get about 20 minutes in the pool with them and they swim right beside you . Its pretty thrilling.
We booked the excursion as soon as we arrived as it tends to book up . I think it was about $30.00...whatever it is its worth it.
The calm clear waters of Guardalavaca beach are great for kayaking . It is good to take a break from reading on the beach once in a while.
The kayaks are free for guests at the Las Brisas Resort
