One word - excellent!
I was really impressed by variety and quality of all meals served in this restaurant. Regardless of variety, they were still changing selection every day.
The only problem we had was being late for breakfast (served until 10), or after not having breakfast being too early for supper, but snack bar would save us in that case.
Buffet: Fresh Food is not an option
I found Cuban food lacked in freshness; very little or no fresh fruit or vegetables. I stayed at Club Puntarena, but I had others say the same about the food in their resorts.
Favorite Dish: The pasta made to order was okay.
Buffet: Only restaurant.
This buffet is the way all the meals are served at this hotel. The food is a mix of local and North American, and is mediocre. There is no air-conditioning in the restaurant and it can get very warm. There is also a snack bar of sorts where you can get fast food, like hamburgers and fries etc.
Barcelo Solymar: Eat at the buffet, don't bother reserving
When staying at the Solymar don't bother making reservations to eat in one of the "theme" restaurants. You are better off to just go to the main dining room and eat from the buffet. The food at the theme restaurants is mediocre at best and you're bound to get almost the same thing eating from the buffet.
Favorite Dish: The fresh fruit and juices are great. Make sure you try the ice cream. Cuba makes just fantastic helados (ice creams). Yummmmm!
