Favorite thing: Its the countryside and a chance to relax that is the attraction of Vinales. The pace is slow, the countryside stunning, commercial development low.

Fondest memory: The fabulous scenery, the dramatic changes following a storm, the relaxation and the hotel Los Jazmines

Vinales valley

Favorite thing: The Vinales valley is a tobacco growing region, but there are also plots of coffee, bananas, cassava, malanga, cabbage, tomatoes, beans, corn and the list could go on. These kinds of little huts are used for drying tobacco, but might be used for other purposes as well.

View from the main street

Favorite thing: This is in an old mansion on the main street of Viñales with a square in front and the town church next to it. Art gallery, cultural activities and generally very impressive!

At the beginning we thought to spend a few days in Vinales but once in Cuba, we soon realised that a day trip was enough for what we were interested in.

Cuba's most beautiful valley

I took a day trip from Havana to this famous valley with unusual conical hills. It was definitely worth the 2-hour drive! The area was covered with tobacco fields, where Cuba's finest are grown here.
