It's a completely undeveloped beach, so no drink sales, no food shacks, no toilets.
But it is clean and clear and we were lucky enough to be there without any other people (although we arrived at the same time as other people, so don't know where they disappeared to?)
No sunshades either - so watch out for yourself under that sizzling caribbean sun!
We couldn't apply sunscreen fast enough.
We took the car to Playa Perla Blanca on the Cayo Santa Maria.
It was a bit hairy in parts, with some muddy stretches of road, but our brave Skoda hire car managed splendidly. Don't get out on the way or you'll get eaten by mosquitoes (not a problem on the beach, only on the road), although you may be tempted out to photograph the clouds of butterflies that swarm on the road
