Favorite thing: As per elsewhere in Cuba, internet access is sub-abysmal. The place my guide book recommended for quality info in trinidad to plan further stages of my trip is the Cubatur office on Maceo. There's a lady there named Maggie who was excellent ringing round hotels for me (please note they are not allowed to ring casa particulares) and booking a bus ticket for me. She is destined for greatness.
Favorite thing: If you wanna get in touch with the real cuban way of life, you cannot miss to eat in a casa particular! We met a very nice man called Antonio he was a fisherman he invited tus to have dinner at his house. We met his family and discovered such a lovely people, we met his family and children that cooked for us.....one of the most touching experience in Cuba...
Favorite thing: A 15 yrs' birthday party. It's a special occasion for the girl and her family. In this particular occasion the girl use to wear beautiful coloured dress, walking in the streets and having a great party with friends and all the members of the family... just like our 18's birthday party...
In the 18-19th centuries the Valley of the Sugar Mills was one of the most productive sugar-cane growing areas in Cuba. Today, it's a UNESCO cultural heritage site together with Trinidad as the sugar-cane plantations provided the wealth for the town's development.
Fondest memory: The old sugar estate of Manaca Iznaga. There is a tourist restaurant and a souvenir shop in the main building, but the major attraction is the fascinating 45m tall slave tower.
Favorite thing: Inside the Iglesia Parroquial de la Santisima trinidad....it was built at the end of '800 on the ruins of an ancient church of 1700 that was completely destroyed by a powerful tornado...
Favorite thing: Plaza Mayor - Far away you can see the Iglesia de S. Francisco and on the right of the pic you can see la Iglesia Parroquial del la Santissima Trinidad....but be aware at 13:00 it closes!
The Iberostar Grand Hotel Trinidad is in the center of the new town, directly across the street from...more
