After the revolution, many Cuban cities and towns changed the names of their streets to honor people who were integral to the revolution's success. Trouble is, in Trinidad, there is a major focus on the town's historical heritage so many maps and guide books will have the old names. We felt they were used sort of interchangeably.

Going to Trinidad by private car might not be the best option. The particular rides aren’t really cheaper then the bus and because it’s illegal to get a ride with them, you can’t make the driver stop wherever you want to enjoy the view . Right before the enterance of Trinidad there is often police checking the cars entering town. Your illegal driver might then dump you on the side of the road and ride off at high speed, leaving you wondering what the hell just happened… This is real, people!

Trinidad is a very small town which is best explored by foot. The old center is a pedestrian zone so you can walk almost carelessly. If you want to visit places right outside the center, there is a large amount of (coco) taxi and cycle carriges. Don’t forget to bargan the asking price for you transportation too!

well there wasn't much traffic, but the road was surfaced with large river pebbles. these have to be the bumpiest surfaced roads in the world, with the exception of Burma.
