Havana: Cathedral
You will see this cathedral referred to as both the Catedral de la Virgen María de la Concepción Inmaculada (Cathedral of the Virgin Mary of the Immaculate Conception) and the Catedral de San Cristóbal (Cathedral of Saint Christopher); both are correct, as the cathedral is dedicated to both saints. It was built between 1748 and 1477, and between 1796 and 1898 held the remains of Christopher Columbus (now in Seville Cathedral).It is unusual for a baroque cathedral in having an asymmetrical façade – look carefully and you will see that the left-hand tower is narrower than that on the right.
