Night and morning time

by RobyG

In the night time there are different places where you can go and listen some good salsa music, try to dance it if you can or just have a drink and watch other people do it. In different cities of Cuba there is a great club called "Casa de la musica" which may differ in sizes but it's basically a typical Cuban discotheque manly visited by all the tourists and the Cubans too. In the morning it depends in which city you are, If you are in Havana then just go around the city, visit the center with squares, churches and some museum, if you moved already to Trinidad just get a cocotaxi and reach the beach 5 km far from the center, ask to some Cubans for snorkeling they will provide you all the things you need and bring you to the best place for that. If you like riding the horse in the city center of Trinidad few people stop tourists and show them pictures for a nice 4 hrs horse-trip. When I...

Drink rum in Habana Viejo (Old Havana)

by TRimer

There are tons of places to try out Mojitas (rum with mint leaves) or the famous daiquiri which was invented at El Florita. My favorite place to have drinks is atop the Musuem of Natural History in the Armory Square. There is a bar with a view of the harbor.

Windsurfing in Varadero

by itsaniceplanet

This is the only windsurfing rental on the island. Although not working officially as of December 2006, the gear is new and people who run it are friendly. A nice extra is that as there are not many people practicing wind or kitesurfing, there are usually not more than three sails or kites on the sea.

Visit Havava

by MagpieLiz

Havana is a special place full of special people who have nothing to their name but are still wondeful people. There is a great feel to the place and not once did we feel uncomfortable even though there was so much poverty. There are some grand buildings and great beaches and also look out for the 1950's American cars which everyone seems to drive.

Drive in oldsmobile

by rsudic

Its must ! Even if people tell you it's not for tourist (as a cab), you'll be offered a ride so don't say no....do negotiate about price. Our case was: 5 person - half hour - 10 CUC (2 CUC per person).Fantastic and rare experience !

Visit Cayo Largo

by rsudic

Sun, beach, nature, iguanas, relaxing, coctails........Day trip from Varadero or Havana by plane. I paid 180 EUR for flight, free drinks all day, snorkeling with tropical fish, feeding iguanas, lunch, swimming in clear blue water, having a beach on your own. It's not cuban at all, but one day you can fell the Carribean from the postcard.

Drink Mojito

by rsudic

It's a sin to avoid coctails while you're in Cuba so DO IT !Mojito is known couse Hemingway use to drink it, but you'll find many bars with their own special coctail. Some are great, some are just good....enjoy ! There are many non alcoholic coctails too.

Piñar del Rio

by batyr76

The Piñar region is very popular among tourists, because it offers beautiful nature, and is only 3 hours away from Havana by bus. The city of Viñales is the place you would want to stay, and not the city Piñar itself. Viñales is a quiet small-town, offering the tranquility and adventure Havana doesnt have. The scenic nature gives you the possibility to go horse-riding, trekking, climbing, or just joining the hop-on/hop-off bus that drives in a circuit all day, allowing you to visit some of the interesting places in the region by your self.

Tobacco farm

by Helga67

Visit a tobacco farm. They will tell you all about the process of making the best cigars in the world. They will show you the tobacco plants and take you to the shed where the tobacco leaves are being dried. You can observe how the leaves are put together and hung on sticks for drying. Of course, after the visit you can buy some local cigars. For as far as I know tobacco farms can only be visited with a local, because there are no 'official' tours to these places. It is difficult to find it on your own, as there are no signs to these farms. Make inquiries at your casa particular or just ask some locals. We were invited by some hitchhikers that we took along.About buying cigars at those farms: the cigars have a good quality and as long as you don't buy more than 23 cigars you can leave Cuba without having an official purchase receipt. If you carry more than 23 cigars you need to show the...

Vinales valley

by Helga67

Vinales valley has the most beautiful scenery that I saw in Cuba. It lies in West Cuba, only 3 hours drive from Havana. The valley is characterised by green fields of tobacco and other crops, red earth and impressive round-topped hills, which are called "mogotes". These limestone hills are covered with rich and varied vegetation, and some hills have caves and underground rivers that you can visit.
