Hona hemen hiria ezagutzeko moduetako bat, erosoa eta nahikoa geldoa dena ondo ezagutzeko. This is is a very adecuate way to visit the town without getting to tired, time is not the problem in Cuba when you mean transportation.

Aerogaviota

by Maph

If you take a tour to Cayo Largo Del Sul, You will probably fly with Aerogaviota. The Flight lasts 30 minuts from Havana or Varadero. If You see smoke in passenger cabins, dont be affraid, it is only air condition :)

Better take a taxi from Trinidad back to Havana

by Stroller

.. as it costs the same as the Viazul bus. They both cost 25 USD but with the taxi you're certainly better off because you don't have to follow the bus schedule and move faster. Better still, you may save another 5 USD which is the amount you'll have to pay for a taxi to get downtown from the Viazul bus station. The bus station is far away from the city.

From Cuba to Mexico

I bought a one-way ticket for Havana-Cancun from Cubana airlines which cost only USD 166 (I paid with peso convertible). The experience with the Cubana staff was very unpleasant although the ticket was cheap.

Take the Cubana flight from Santiago to Havana

by prepost

Instead of taking a 15 hr bumpy Viazul bus ride from Santiago de Cuba back to La Havana, I opted for a Cubana flight. There are at least 2 flights per day and I took the early one leaving at 9:35 am and arrive in Havana at around 11 am. It's a much shorter ride and only costs twice as much as the bus ride. (Viazul is around $50 and the flight was $108.) The best part is that on a clear day you get an ariel view of the island, coast and little cayos. Just don't forget to request for a window seat. Book the tickets early through Sol 'n' Sun travel agency. I did mine in Havana two weeks in advance.

Scooter

by eddymario

In Vinales I rented a scooter. First of all I lost my way, since there are not to many road signs. The second bad luck was that I got into a tropical rain storm, the fuse became wet and the engine stopped running. Still 20 km to go, there was nothing else to do as to hide and wait til the fuse became more dry.Finaly the engine started again, I was glad I made it back before it became dark.

Taxis

by Natalllya

Public transportation in Cuba is highly unreliable. If you have a few dollars and some patience, hire a taxi cab. However, make sure to order it well in advance. Sometimes you might even need a whole day. Me and a friend split a taxi to Havana from Matanzas. It costs us $60 USD ($30 each), out taxi driver and tranlator took us to Havana early in the morning, took us wherever we wanted to go, gave us our personalized tours and took us back to our hotel late at night. Beats a group tour and its affordable.

Autopistas

by agarcia

Nothing is easy for the Cubans in Cuba, especially if it involves the use of money; So if filling your car deposit is sometimes painful for you, try to imagine how it would be with a 10$/month income... That, along with bad roads conditions, restriction in the movement of people between provinces and, of course the lack of cars in working condition, could explain why Cuban highways seems so deserted. Distances could be a relative measure if you hold a Cuban passport...

Mini Taxis in Havana ~~ Scooter to Varadero

by aneaglewhensheflies

Definitely take a TOURING BUS to Havana and once in Havana you may either WALK ( which is what I suggest) or grab a MINI-CAB to take yu around the streets.Or if you want to go on an afternoon road trip to Varadero you may rent a scooter for a fee ~ and that sure did look like FUN, too!!All of the everyday vehicles on the roads of Cuba are of the 50's and 60's models as it is a very poor country and when you think about it they certainly NEVER have to worry about their vehicles rusting out from the salt and winter driving ~~DO THEY!!!!!

Tip Photo
No night driving

by TOFFY

Outside the cities, Cuba has no street lights. Consequently it can be very dark. I strongly recommend that you avoid driving in these conditions as you will be sharing the road with lots of pedestrians, horses and buggies, bicyles, cars and a scooters - all of which have no lights or reflectors. By the time you see this slow traffic, it will be too late. Don't do it.
