There is no question that in Puerto Plata the best resturant is Cafe Ceto. It is owned by Tim Hall, a former Torontonian. If your looking for fast food this isn't the place for you. But if your looking for great food, wonderful atmospher, and friendly people, this is the place to go. The quiet, layed back atmosphere is what makes Cafe Ceto. Sit back have a drink or two and eat the best food on the island. The food prices are very resonable.
The meun is't huge. But you can have the best steaks on earth, fabulous lobster tails, chicken and salads. You might have trouble finding it on your own, it's found at the end of a long alse

Scott's Head (can't remember the name) .. it's the only one up there, and is on the ocean (can't say beach). Great food, great scenery .. the only problem> The flies ... they are like experienced dive-bombers. They appear fomr nowhere when the food is served, and disappear just as suddenly when the last morsel is gone.
The Lobster .. grilled Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: Scott's Head in the south-west corner of the island.

by hajin For the most part, I ate at the guesthouses where I stayed--both Roxy's and the Carib Territory Guesthouse had good Creole homecooking. One of my best meals was at a small place across from the Ross University School of Medicine where I had some delicious fish, rice, provisions (officially called ground provisions--they are root vegetables) and beans for about $4US. A lot of Dominican cuisine was created with fruits, vegetables and herbs that grow rampant throughout the island. In the Carib Territory, the Caribs have farms on steeply sloping hills and it's hard to believe that the farmers wouldn't tumble down the side. Vegetation is lush on the island and on any given walk, you'll find herbs and flowers growing wildly. Obviously, the photo to the right is not of an edible plant.
Don't leave Dominica without having a dasheen croquette (dasheen is a root vegetable--taro), some callaloo soup (callaloo are the leaves of a dasheen plant--similar to spinach), and some bakes--fried biscuit-like cakes (bakes stuffed with tuna are delicious)! Leave a Comment Theme: Other

You will be served local food in a relaxed atmosphere, served by waitresses in traditional brighly coloured skirts. Even the tables wear the same colours. Always remember to ask what local juices are available. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: La Robe Creole, 8-9th Street, Canefield, Roseau, Dominica, W.I.Other Contact:

La Robe Creole, Roseau by BROOKS Authenic island CREOLE (Kweyol) food My favorite restaurant is La Robe Creole. This is a slightly pricey Creole restaurant located in downtown Roseau, the capital city of the Commonwealth of Dominica. I highly recommend this. If you want something quick and familiar I'd suggest Kentucky Fried Chicken. It's open until 11 P.M. The staff wear traditional Creole dress. The restaurant looks like a restaurant from the early days and the food is evident with Dominica's African, French, English, and Carib Indian influences. The locals don't generally frequent this attractive little place as do the Europeans and business people.
The younger waitstaff can be a bit, well, noisy. Make certain to be very clear of what you are ordering and point to it if need be in the menu. My favorite item is the coconut fried shrimp. Scrumptuous!!! It's served with a type of Creole buttersauce. $55 Eastern Caribbean dollars. by BROOKS Floral Gardens serving succulent crayfish, local agoute, a rabbitlike forest animal, goat and manicou, the local possum, smoked over a fire are served overlooking the river. Enjoy live music in the reception area daily.
My favorite items were the Creole chicken with rice served with ground provisons and Caribbean bread. Sample the many 100% natural juices including hibiscus, local grapefriut, cherry, mango, and passionfruit. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: Northern Carib Reserve, Dominica, West Indies Tel. Don't remember the name of the place. But Callibishie is a beautiful beach front stretch loaded with restaurants with local food...or hamburgers and fries. The view is beautiful and the options are plentiful. We ate at a beachfront place that had Cowboyish swinging doors with a black and white checkered floor.
The fish was good! Theme: Ice CreamPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageDirections: Callibishie!

The perfect combination of black sand, blue sea and glorious sunsets. Great food, very friendly people and delicious homemade fruit juices. Nice terrace. There is no menu to choose from - this is a small restaurant off the tourist path - but they serve tasty local fish specialties cooked to perfection. I highly recommend it if you are in or around Mero area. Reservations are required for dinner. If you can, go there for dinner - as I said, the sunset is unbelievable.
We had steamed fish with vegetables and salad - very good. You will have to pass a small beach bar first.
