Tipping is not allowed on most resorts, so if you want to give someone a cash tip, make sure you're not in eyeshot of anyone else. Employees can lose their jobs for accepting tips. Leave a Comment

Generally they seemed very friendly but a bit mad about their merengue music. If you do not like merengue I would recommend that youeither stay on a deserted beach or take ear plugs with you ;) Leave a Comment

Dominican is a third world country. Bring little things such as nail polish, toothpaste, toys etc. for your maid or for any of the excursions you may go on. It may be little but they relly appreciate it. Leave a Comment

When traveling to the Dominican Republic remember you are in another country. Try to learn a little of the language (Spanish) before going and use it to the best of your ability while you are there. We found that most of the staff at our resort were able to speak some english but attempting to use the native language was always appreciated. Leave a Comment

The Dominican people are very friendly, and very gracious. Although the staff at the hotel speak several languages, they still appreciate the effort by people from other countries to speak their language. The staff at our hotel were enthusiastic, as well as fun. All of them from the houskeeping staff, restaurant staff, and the front desk, to the 'Chocolate Friends' running all of the activities, all of them added to our experience. Leave a Comment

The Dominican people are extremely warm and friendly people. We were invited into their homes and taken to local bars to party. I had never seen real poverty until I went on this trip, but they were still such happy people. We went in one person's home that was really just a shack with a dirt floor, but this woman was delighted to have us visit. Wanted us to stay and visit for a while! And when I was there I saw so many Toronto Blue Jays t-shirts. At the time a few of the players were from DR, and all the locals wanted Blue Jays t-shirts. Had I known I would have taken them some.
