At least 4 small theaters within 5 blocks.: Theater nightlife in Santo Domingo
by melosh
If you speak moderately good Spanish (or in some cases just a little) a night including a small theater production in Santo Domingo will be both entertaining and economic. For around $10 USD you can see real people exploring the art of the possible. I recently found 4 within 5 blocks in the Centro Historico area of downtown several blocks from the Malecon. The small venues are particularly attractive to me compared to the Bellas Arts national theater where large productions with large audiences are staged. One advantage of the big theaters and concerts is that you may find their schedule more easily on the internet prior to your arrival in Santo Domingo. Perhaps knowing that the smaller theaters exist will help you find some of their programs as well. If you do not, just take a walk around the area and you are likely to find something of interest, and be able to arrange an unforgettable...

I went to a village outside of Puerto Plata almost every night I was in the Dominican Republic and I had a great time dancing and people watching. I made friends with a member of the community and he made sure I was safe.
iwmi cafe,virus cafe,cafe 608: real dominican mambodancing ;)
by NooraBarbi
these "cafes" (dominican call them cafes even though its far away what i consider a cafe..haha) are located in nagua, about 200km from puerto plata to samana. theyre really popular nightspots among dominicans (well in nagua u hardly meet tourists!). usually people go to parque central at first to drink and meet friends and there are bars around it..so u can have your cold cerveza around there. then people go dancing to these cafes. there are special nights and sometimes local bands are playing. in a regular night music is usually merengue-bachata-reggaeton-salsa and sometimes some american/european house/r'n'b music.music is really loud by the way. but its all about dancing, right? u can go talking outside :D
these places are pretty classy so no caps, shorts, flipflops, beachwear etc at weekends.girls, a nice top with jeans and heels are ok. guys, nice smart shirt, jeans are ok.
Ono's and Bambu: Great Nightlife in Cabarete!
by ashley05p
People in Cabarete do not tend to go out until atleast 11PM. But then everybody goes all out - lots of cerveza y cuba libres, dancing, and excitement. The bars pretty much close when the last person leaves.
Any way you'd like
Cabing it.
by jeners
U can catch a cab from your resort to go to other resorts that have night life until all hours. Its safe to get in a cab. Just let them know your wanting a bar that goes all night. Cab fair isnt all that much. Drinks are a little pricey. Very young crouds.
CrazyMoon: Let the Good time begin!

The nightclub at this resort was pretty cool. The music was hip-hop, trance, house, rasta. I danced all night long. The bartender was hilarous and made the night fun with rounds upon rounds of tequila. Oh the headache in the morning, thank goodness for the beach.

Nightlife in Santo-Domingo
by Nounours
People-watching at the cafes and bars, many of them open air. Dancing merengue, salsa, bachata and even rock until the early morning in discos and night clubs. Casino gambling until dawn in hotel casinos. Santo Domingo has its fair share of casinos, international theatre, music and dance performances, the finest of them performing at the National Theater. A city for young people, every evening hundreds of young executives congregate for drinks at the many bars and cafes in the city, many located at the Avenida Abraham Lincoln, Gustavo Mejia Ricart and Roberto Pastoriza or on the Malecon. The nightlife starts late, with people arriving at the discos after 11 pm and the merengue, salsa and rock beats don’t stop until around 4 am at upscale dance clubs in town. Newcomers to the city should visit the Guacara Taina, a famous multi-level dance club set in a massive underground cave in the...
by the beach: nite
by quartinb
at a all inclusive resort nite offers are very few and narrow. it resumes to a discoteque, and a couple of half 'n hour shows. of course, if yu travel with kids, the disco is not suitable. so, we' ve spent nites, after the shows and animation they provide, just by the pool side by side with the beach, watchin' the stars and talkin' with other travel mates.
