From Dajabón you can cross the border into Haiti.
We went to Haiti from Dajabón in November 2006, and it cost us 45 USD each to leave the Dominican Republic (for a stamp in your passport and other documentation). Then we crossed the border from Haiti, the price was 10 USD each (I'm not sure for what). You can only pay in cash and only with USD.
At the border you'll find some locals, who offer guided tours in Quanaminthe. We went with Jean Jean Baptista - he could speak some English.
After you crossed the border you can take a motorcycle the 10 minutes drive to Quanaminthe. Go to the local market or just take a walk in the town. We saw many UN-soldiers - both at border and in the city of Quanaminthe.

Address: Dajabón
On Mondays and Fridays, Haitians are permitted to temporarily cross the bridge to buy goods that are scarce in their country. A twenty square block area of the city becomes an open air market on these days – and is always worth a visit.
Take a walk at the market or go down to the border to watch the traffic over the "Friendship Bridge". It is amazing how much people can carry on their head - or load on a wheelbarrow.
