Most things you need you can get at the Colmados. You can find these shops everywhere in Bayahibe. They are so much of them i wonder how they can survive....
Some of them are quite big other are only a small hut.
Most of them sell food, drinks, fresh water, beer, suncream and lots more. There are some wich only sell fruit and vegetables, one (nearly) only sells drinks
Unlike in a supermarket where you go round the shop collecting what you need and paying on the way out you ask for what you need like in good old times. Shopping around is not realy necessary as all the important things (like water, beer etc.) cost the same everywhere.
On the picture "colamdo norma" (the one wich sells nearly only drinks) is just getting a delivery.

If you are touring around by Car or Motorbike or even per Boat you'll need to know where to find the petrol station. It's not where you would expect it near a road, no its outside the village at the sea front.
Once you find it you will see why: the same petrol station is used for fueling cars and boats!

What to buy: The Dominican Republic competes with Cuba for the n.1 Rum producer and consumer.
There are many different brands of rum, most of which are not commercialized outside the DR. You can better buy rum in the normal supermarkets than in the tourist shops.
One of my favourites was Bermudez Crystal, a pure white rum ideal for cocktails but excellent also pure.

Partout dans les petites boutiques locales vous trouverez des tableaux, grands, moyens, petits.
Plusieurs types de peinture également, toutes magnifiques.
N'hésitez pas à négocier le prix et à descendre au moins 50-60% du prix qui vous est indiqué initialement. Insistez, ça marche !.
What to pay: Pour un petit tableau demandez 5 dollars. Pour un moyen environt 20 dollars. Je n'ai pas acheté de grands tableaux.

What to buy: Local coffee is excellent and "Santo Domingo" is one of the most famous brands. You can buy vacuum boxes of ground Dominican coffee in all the supermarkets.
Nice souvenir to bring back home with you.
