The Playa Blanca is the place for beach bumming on the south side. There is just a bar for those who might get dehydrated from overexposure to the tropical sun but no hotel. This state of affairs is going to change radically after the completion of the Westin hotel next door in one year’s time. At present though, this place still has the largest swath of sand, a beautiful cluster of reclining palms and hardly any people to fill the chairs. With the weather on your side you will be exposed to some dramatic atmospheric action passing by as if to demonstrate what paradise has to deal with on regular basis. If the waters are calmer the kite surfer’s devices are limited in power but then the snorkelling improves because the water becomes more transparent – never to be bored. Simple lying around would do too; people watching during photo sessions at the photogenic palm grove is certainly lots of fun.
The beach is amazing, simply put the beach is why people come to Punta Cana because there is nothing else in the area at all! Its everything you would expect from the soft white sand to the clear blue water and the backdrop of swaying palm trees. I would highly recommend walking the beach as it stretches on forever and provides a sneak peek into other resorts which is interesting. There are also many shops that line the beach which makes for a lot of fun. Nothing quite like shopping with sand between your toes and the ocean mere yards away! By the way Punta Cana attracts many Europeans so don't be surprised to see a lot of topless woman and men in speedos, just a word of warning for you American prudes out there! By the way how is it that the beautiful woman never take off their tops? What the hell!
punta cana and playa bavaro are at the east coast beach strip, so sunsets, is something off the beatten path, as the sun sets behind the island. thou' gorgeous sunrises yu can see everyday as long as yu wake up early in the morning and prepare yu digi camera. i did it 4 days in a roll,( its vacation time, who needs to rest? ) and the result is watercolor sunrise tlogue.
The beach is the No. 1 attraction in the Punta Cana area, stretching an amazing 50 kilometers.of course this kind of vacations are to completely rest and do nothing...
if yu like this kind of vacation, well, go ahead!
At least half of my day was spent swimming or floating in the turquoise blue waters of the Dominican Republic. The sea is generally calm and relatively flat and mostly warm. During the afternoon storms the sea does get a bit choppy but that just adds to the charm.
Lying on the beach while the sun beats down is a very relaxing way to spend a day or a week for that matter. Be sure to take a few good books, its the perfect place to get your teeth stuck into a good read.
As part of the Marinarium tour you get taken out to a sandbank a little way offshore where the captain prepares a 'special' Dominican Rum Cocktail. Everyone then jumps overboard and while Bob Marley blares over the sound system the crew serves the cocktails as you stand on the sandbank. What a place to have a cocktail!!!
Dominican Republic is much more than beaches. The island landscape is varied, ranging from the white sanded beaches to the mountainous green interior.
We booked a visit to the "interior" of the island on a 4wd vehicle, which allowed us to go off the beaten roads and discover both the landscape and the small villages.
At first, we were so surprised at the sight of luxurious green hills. There was green everywhere and the landscape was almost mountainous. The temperature is not as high (fortunately) and there is a kind of mist everywhere. The vegetation is thick and completely different from the palm trees we were used to see on the beach.
This visit allowed us to discover how a typical family lives, what grows on their garden and what are their habits.
Punta Caña is a destination that is well known because of its beaches. The white sand, the warm water, the fantastic sea colours, the palm trees, the wonderful sunny days, the animation at night, all add up to make this destination a great spot for holidays.
Someone travelling to Punta Caña is seeking beach, animation and/or relax, basically that’s it. Enjoy the wonderful Caribbean beaches and have fun.
What can you do in a place like this? Enjoy the beach, the sea, the sun and fill your eyes with the incredible colours of the nature. When you are 'tired' to sunbathe and relax on your deckchair, you can choose many activities to do, like swimming, dancing the merengue, playing beach volley or walking along the beach.
This picture is taken on the beach....and i love it cause i look like pirate, with thoose parrots on my shoulder, my cap and then the ship in the sea...ha ha, well we had a good time and this picture shows it.
Scuba Doo is a under-water moped scooter thing and is AWSOME! You get to feed hundreds of fish, hold a sea urchin and drive a little scooter under water!
AND... Horseback riding on the beach!
Pull out your chair, find a spot in the sand, and get a book....you can do it in reverse order, too....
Go swimming at night. The temperature of the water is just the same as the air. A strange thing for who come from a cold winter!!
