Give yourself a chance to see what the country is really like......get away from the comfort of your resort and indulge in the rawness and culture.
Take a tour with Bavaro Runners on one of their zebra striped buses. The tour we did was all day for about $80. They took us to a cigar factory (free cigar - any flavor), a school to see kids at work, a hacienda for horseback riding, tour of a dominican house to see how people live with a tasting of fruits, coffee, hot chocolate and Mamajuana. Also a trip to a sugar cane plantation and the gorgeous Macao beach. You will also have lunch with a view and eat some some of the BEST food you will have in the Dominican Republic.
If you're up for it, check to see if there is horseback riding at or near your resort. It is very common in the Dominican Republic, so I'm sure you'll find a ranch close by.
The trail rides usually last for 2 hours, and will take you through the wooded areas, and typically end with a long gallop down the beach.
