This was the one activity the we both decided to do before we left!! We had seen a couple people going out but decided to wait a day to go up. We had seen a couple go up tandem and decided to give that a try. We paid with credit card (to save cash) at the water sports desk. We had no trouble with our credit card billing! The bill is submitted in Dominican Pesos and the counter guy showed me on the calculator how much it converted to in US$. Got the bill, no problem (the credit card did get $2 for foreign currency conversion - who's ripping who off).
Cost $40 each or $75 for tandem. We went with the tandem but when we got out to the boat, the guy driving the boat was concerned that we were a little heavy to go tandem. Not that we weighed too much but that you had to go out much further from shore past the reef to take two adult tandem. We agreed to pay the $5 when we got back so as to avoid the big waves. Maybe it was true maybe not.
Anyway we both had a great time!! You can see everything for several miles around. The water was awesome and a hundred shades of blue. Since it was slow they took a little longer with us. They slowed down a couple times to let you get close to the water and then took off to send you back up in the air. They did dunk us each one time!!
Even though I'm afraid of heights I didn't have any trouble with this. The harness is like sitting in a swing that is a little too small. With the water below you it is hard to tell just how far up you are, but from the shore you know it is far Leave a Comment
