  • Seavis Tours...ecological jungle tour

    La Romana Things to Do

We booked the Jungle Eco tour at the last minute, just a day before, and they were very accommodating to include us in their group of 20. Although it is suggested that you book them in advance, may be 3 or 4 days before the trip. Seavis tours, which is a family run tour operator in Bayahibe, totally exceeded our expectations. They are so helpful...

    La Romana Things to Do

Over 4,000 workers making some of the world's most highly regarded Dominican cigars! Definitely one of the best experiences and most entertaining two hours I've spent on a tour. The staff is very friendly and helpful when picking from dozens of different cigars.Only a cab ride away from Punta Cana, located in nearby La Romana. Several trip formats...

    Isla Saona Local Customs

Where you are in the village many children sorroud you asking one dollar. I don't like give them money. I had just a packet of chewing gum. Bad idea! They swallowed them! I think it's better if you get them pastels, pens and exercise books. A fact is certain, if you give them something, you don't shake them off. But they are so nice!!

  • Buy the coconut oil

    Isla Saona Shopping

At the village there are some stalls who sell beautiful naive paintings. I bought a bottle of coconut oil by an itinerant seller on the beach. They get the oil from the coconuts and fill up empty bottle of rhum. Obsiouvly when I came home the oil became solid. Never mind! I'll use it the next summer.

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

We stopped here in our return trip to Santo Domingo from Bayahibe. Our Dominican friend was keeping well this “secret” until the last moment. This was the most luxurious place we enjoyed on our trip, and one on the nicest restaurants I’ve ever been (and I’ve been to many, from all price ranges!).

The place does not seem so special from outside, but once you enter… WOW!! Beautiful decoration with old looking colonial-style furniture, lamps made with marine shells hanging from the palm roof, chill out music…all to crete a relaxing, romantic, “zen” atmosphere. But the best part was the huge terrace, situated directly on the shore overlooking the beautiful bay of Boca Chica. There were two old Thai beds, where you can eat, just over the water, seeing the marine creatures swimming below you. You can even jump to the sea to refresh you! We had a delicious chocolate ice-cream, swam a little and later had a coffee to temperate while enjoying the sunset. When we left, some people were starting to dinner (too early for our Spanish standards), the food looked delicious and the prices were not so high you can expect for a place like this. Reservations are recommended for dinner.

I strongly recommend you this place, better around the sunset as we did, or to have a romantic dinner.
