Coco Bongo's: Partying in Puerto Plata

by Gino0972

Well, as a young couple with no kids, me and my wife are still into clubbing. After having been to the Coco Bongo's in Cancun, and finding out there was also such a place in Puerto Plata we decided to pay a visit. I have to say that this is not anything like the Coco Bongo's in Cancun. The only thing that is the same is their logo! The place is small and was packed on a Saturday night. Saw locals, but lots of tourists too. I didn't feel like I was getting ripped off with the prices on the drinks. The average well drinks are about US$4.50 and a beer costing US$3.00. A bargain coming from Miami. Perhaps the place is a little too wild. This place is a place to come and get down on the floor! People get wasted and it gets to a point where the place is so packed that you cannot walk without pushing people out of your way. Definitely recommend it to the party animals out there, but if your a...

Mangu or CocoBongo?: Playa Dorada Complex

by madmary71

The unfortunate part of being at the Playa Dorada compound is we were limited to only 2 discotheques...Cocobongo, which is situated next to our hotel and Mangu another 4-5 blocks away. We checked them out, and it seems that Cocobongo is the popular one, while Mangu is almost like dead in the water, although I must admit Mangu have the "hot" Dominican dancers. Cocobongo is almost like a masquarade party 'coz their dancers have different characters; The mask, Beetlejuice, Spiderman (ew), along with the Riddler. If you don't pay attention to the dancers, I think you'll have a blast here for they have better music. Anything goes! I was wearing flip flops, and a mini skirt.

Voodoo Lounge and others: Sosúa - Voodoo Lounge

by Miguel_Marques

Voodoo Lounge is onte of the most recent and classiest clubs in Sosúa. It broke a tradition of sex bars, creating a space where different kinds of people mix. Canadian run, lovely building, music and general atmosphere are not my personal preference though (mixture of Dominican yos, Ukrainian hookers, and groups of lost tourists). DJs on the weekends, karaoke wednesdays and sundays and very nice staff. Don´t miss it.

merengue and salsa

by skatzcatz

for a real taste of the Dominican music scene talk to the locals and dance the night away at one of the local merengue clubs. Like me though your western dance skills will feel very out of place in a clube where wiggling your boty is more an artform then danicng. The club in Puerta Plata i visited was near the shipping area, ask at Sam's thats where i found directions. absolutetly anything

Sams Bar & Grill: nice place to chat to the locals

by skatzcatz

nice food, nice drinks and just a nice pub/bar to drink in. the waitress was new so we had a good conversation with her. Sam's the dog and they sell souvenir t-shirts, i bought one for a friend. Casual touristy clothes, they'd probably let you in naked if you had money stashedsomewhere

Crazy Moon: Nightlife is hard on the body...

by Ann26

At the crazy Moon , you can dance ALL the night on salsa, meringue, and some American song. The atmonphere is very excellent and don't worry girl, your not going to be alone for a long time...And after a big night at Crazy Moon, I enjoyed falling asleep to the ocean sounds... Good Holidays... nothing special

There is alway plenty of night life. After all you are in the Caribean. These people will dance all night. A lot of the clubs stay open till the early hours or till the last person is off the dance floor. In most disco's dress is casual.

The same here as most travels i made, i was in an all inclusice hotel. And have to say that there was not a lot to do in the evening (there were just 4-16 people) but we amused ourselves. We went several times to Sosou but only to a terras and not to a dancing or something like that. You have to take care when you go out in the night !The merenque is really great all over the Dominican. There is music everywhere, it doesn't matter if you stay in the hotel or if you go out...everywhere !! Just go the way you are. If you like casual just go like that, if you like more dressed ...well go like that. YOU ARE ON HOLIDAY !!

There is a lot of nightlife at Puerto Plata and Cabarete. At Puerto Plata it’s the best you have some inhabitant with you, because there are a lot of bars (and where do you need to go?). It’s difficult to find your way there. Better it is at Cabarete, a small village and nice and friendly people. And you don’t lose your way over there. My favourite nightlife spot there was the “TORTUGA BAR”.Find it out yourself ;-))) Not under the age of 18. Similar.
