A wild jeep ride into the jungle

by cherylll

The Outback Safari Jeep excursion was a blast! It is a full day of driving thru a lot of the local towns, a short trip to a fruit plantation...very interesting, a dip in the river as well as a boat ride thru the mangrooves, boogy boarding with big waves in the ocean and drinking rum (if you choose) the whole time.

Eat local fish in Maimon

by Monoii

If you're close to Puerto Plata, don't miss Maimon and its numerous local restaurants specialized in fish and seafood. The food is delicious and really cheap. All the restaurants are located along the main road, about 10 minutes from Puerto Plata (going to Santiago). In some places, they even let you choose your fish. They usually fry it, but you can have it prepared in different ways (steamed or with creole sauce for example). Everything is tasty!

Haitain Boarder- Dajabon area

by AlexH2004

We took a excursion off to Dajbon and Montechristi. It is a 4 hour trip but a good adventure. The Haitian market in Dajabon is so crazy, people bring all these goods in from Haiti and sell them in an open market. Do not go unless you are traveling with someone hwo knows whats going on though. We then went to Capotillo and there is a cool monument to the war with Haiti, it is out in the midle of no where. The beach in Montechristi you go past this wall mountain right on the coast and a small beautiful beach is below.

Moped

by jennijeans

The best time we had was visiting the city of Puerto Plata with the Moped. It is worth it if you like adventure. We also went on the back roads where we went horseback riding. It was fun but there was too much garbage!!

Pick your own coconuts

by Grootpiet

This guy was actually getting some for the resort, with the chef in his white outfit standing under the tree, catching the ones being dropped, and directing the guy where to go.They arrived on a little moped, and we saw the two of them leave, the chef on the back, juggling his bounty in his arms.

There are a lot of nice places to see and to go. People are very nice and you will love the way they are standing infront of you camera. You wil also love the views in the Domincan. At home you can not explain what you have seen because the pictures are not showing the same feeling as when you where there taking the picture.

There are a lot of things you can do, but most of all i think is diving. You can get a free lesson in the pool and if you like it then you can go with the master to take a dive in the sea. I did not dare after one lesson in the pool, but our friend had more lessons before and did go. He had the time of his live ! So if you can dive : DO IT!!!

by Franberu

The best way to meet dominicans is to go int the campo's outside the main roads. Follow a small trail and you will meet these happy guys in their natural homesites. They are not rich but they are ready to give you everything if you are friendly and they feel that you are not there to exploit them. Don't be afraid they are very friendly and it is not an apppearance.

Check out the alien plantlife

by Grootpiet

This seems to be part of the palmtree, and I saw some of these sticking out of the newly opened fronds. Looked interesting though, and would not seem out of place in a movie with Sigourney Weaver...
