by melissamn1 The resturants that we ate at were within our resort. It included 3 restaurants and a buffet. The buffet was open morning, noon, and night. Each night of the week the buffet had something different. It had very fresh food. The resurants we had to make a reservation for daily! There was a seafood resturant, steak resturant, and a mexican resturant.
The food in the Dominican is so very very fresh. The fruit is the best I have ever eaten. The fish was great! I am just glad the resort that we stayed at had filtered water! Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: We stayed at Play Naco Resort in Peurto Plata.

Most holidays in the Dominican are fully inclusive due to the nature of the resorts, but the food is generally very good- a different theme every night and the highest standards of hygiene are adhered to. There are also seperate pubs and restaurants that you can attend and pay for seperatley which are very good and make a pleasant change. Unique entertainment whilst being within a captive environment.
There was a very good chinese restaurant next to our resort (but I can't remember the name) and a pub which served typical bar-food which was quite lively. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Villas Doradas in Playa Doradas

What u really have to try is when u travel by car around the country on the old and not very good roads, u have to stop and have a break in one of the small 'bars' called COLMADOS, that are next the road. FEEL THE SIMPLICITY OF THEIR LIFES
Don't remeber the name but u have to taste the tipical dishes from the area. for example a fritted bannana, or Shark (not legal but exquisite) :-P Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: All around the country, next to the roads (not main ones).

by jules_rules In Puerto Plata, you can stop on the side of the street and get them to fry up some shreds of beef. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone that's not use to this food. Mango is an interesting fruit. Try it! You'll either love it or hate it. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

When staying at the Costa Dorada, we had three ala carte choices. Tropical, Brazilian, and Mexican. In my opinion, it was really hard to choose a favorite but if I had to pick one it would be the Brazilian. I am a serious meat lover. If you are a meat lover too then you will have to agree. I cannot emphasize this enough. The service at this resort was encredible. I felt like a god for an entire week. As soon as my plate was empty or my glass was half empty, there would be someone there filling my glass up and taking my plate away. It was like the staff were completely focused on everyone around them, just waiting for someone to run out of alcohol or food....or fun. It was very impressive.
As I said above, I am a serious meat lover. The brazilian ala carte menu was comprized of (7) seven different pieces of meat, all roasted to perfection on a turn style drip barbecue. Sounds good eh? Well I'm not done =-) The meat selection was comprized of Red Pork Sausage, White Pork Sausage, Roast Pork Tenderloin, Lamb, Sweatbread, and the best of all steak. Another famous spot for people watching and greeting is Paco's 'sandwich shop' on the corner of the Conde ( a pedestrian street)and the Independence Park. They let you sit there all day nursing one of the DR's good beers -- best: Presidente..or some homemade lemonade. Hardworking youngsters come by to shine your well-shined shoes, and you can practice your Spanish as you chat with them and your German chatting with your neighbor! This is a very popular spot for tourists and expats alike. Prices are high and the sandwiches are so-so, but it's prime, especially on a hot spring afternoon. Leave a Comment Theme: Other
