Museo de Jamon   Santo Domingo

Baskin Robbins   Santo Domingo

Baskin Robbins, Santo Domingo

2 Reviews  One scoop of icecream in a small cup, one chocolate milkshake made from a scoop of icecream plus ice, milk (I think) and cream on top: $9.00. Was it worth it? Would you pay this at home? Nope. Nope....

I could get lost in the restaurants!

by Joana

I ate at the resort most of the time, except when I went on excursions but still it was organized by the resort. There is nothing that I can say that i didn't like or that wasn't good. Everything was soooo gooood!! If I hadn't been swimming and playing and running on the beach or dancing the merengue all the time, I would have put on some weight, that's for sure!!

CRISTAL

by rachel_sun

When i went to the Dominican,i did get ill from the food, but now all good holiday companies only go with hotels and excurtion trips who are on the CRISTAL.This is a programme which ensures the highest standard of health and hygiene are maintained. Try and stick to cooked hot foods and fruit you can peel and only drink bottled water and do not have ice cubes in drinks.

I have to confess, the dining...

by datdanigirl

I have to confess, the dining experience was not a highlight of the trip. We also did not go to any great lengths to FIND any great food, but mostly because we didn't want to be disappointed! We stayed at the Barcelo complex, and the food was satisfactory (see photo of buffet). I can't say I found the lobster to be that great though others did enjoy theirs. The steakhouse was probably one of the better meals we had there. I also found the buffet restaurant at the Casino hotel was superior to ours. Let me amend that to say it was very different and the options appealed to me more.. We found sushi available at the Casino's buffet and were very pleased with it, also their pasta bar and stirfry bar were very popular.. get there early!!

Traditional Dominican cuisine is a savory blend of African and Indian ingredients. The most popular dishes are 'sancocho', pork roasted on a spit, 'pasteles en hoja', a rice and bean combination called 'moro,' 'casabe'(cassava bread), 'longaniza' (pork sausage), 'morcilla' (blood sausage), goat stew and fish with coconut milk. These national dishes can be enjoyed at major hotels and restaurants that specialize in Dominican cuisine.

RESTAURANT MORUA MAI: RESTAURANT MORUA MAI

by Motzl

Its patio, facing a popular intersection, is the closest thing to a European side walk cafe in town. Inside, where occasional live entertainment is an important attraction, is a high-ceilinged, double-decked and stylish space filled with touches of neo-victorian gingerbread, upholstered banquettes, and wicker furniture. Don't overlook the possibility of a sun-washed drink or cup of afternoon tea in this establishment's courtyard where lunch is served between 11:30am and 5:30pm, dinner is on from 6:00 to 11:30pm daily.Imported pasta, pizza, sandwiches, and light meals at lunch cost from RD$45.00 (US$3.90), while full dinners go from RD$90.00 (US$7.90). Menu specialties include charcoal- grilled lobster, seafood platters. All ingredients are Dominican with lots of locally caught fish, lobster, large shrimps, and langoustines. New York style pizzas are featured. Excellent paella stuffed...

by nunanewf

We visited two restaurants in Peurto Plata that I would recommend. The Aqua Rala ( I may have mispelled that) andCafe Cito. The Aqua Rala was beautiful, we ate in a well manicured garden. The service was great and so was the food.Cafe Cito is run by a Canadian, the Canadian consulate to be exact. It is an informal friendly little spot. The decor is not as nice as the first place I mentioned, but it has a warm, family atmosphere we really enjoyed and the food is excellent. If you go to Cafe Cito, try the Moussaka!
