Popular Restaurants | Other Restaurants Tips | All Tips (4) I usually do not necessarily agree with Lonely Planet's reviews of eateries and restaurants but this time they got it hell right. Lover's Steakhouse is a tremendous choice for fine dining at an amazingly decent price. Extensive menu of beef and seafood. The four of us we all got beef dishes. Food of all was delicious, well prepared and served. Service attentive, the place pleasant. Price of all beef main courses in the US$10 range with a complimentary sample of appetizer coming with an alcoholic drink. If I ever get back in town I won't waste a minute and go eat at this restaurant.
A little out of track close to the main bus station. After dark you may want to take a taxi to get there.
I tried only the beef fillet and the beef tenderloin and they were both just delicious, served with side of potatoes and veggie and enriched with fruit decorations. Nice to see and delicious to eat. Out on the streets, anywhere in El Salvador, you will find a delicious specialty that you really should try when you're here!
In little bags you can buy green pieces of mango, that are not completely ripe yet. These pieces are covered with some seasalt and lots of lemon juice which make a great combination together. The sweetness of the mango, with the saltyness of the seasalt and the bitterness of the lemon juice: very, very nice!
You can buy these little bags for only a few cents around the busstations, in small foodplaces and while you are in the bus. Leave a Comment Theme: Local

When the night fell in in Santa Ana, and the streets were getting dark, we had to start looking for a place to eat in the outskirts of the city centre. That was more difficult then we had imagined. After a few hundred metres we ended up in a street with more whorehouses then restaurants and only after 15 minutes we found something that looked like a place to eat.
The bars in the dooropening had to be opened to allow us to enter. The interior was decorated with dozens of (identical) Disney-posters and there was no menu. We had to ask what the girl, who was there all alone, could serve us. We could choose between rice and meat, rice and chicken and rice and eggs. Out of this wide range we chose the rice with meat.
What we got was not a big plate of food, but enough to fill the stomach for a while. It looked not really promising, but it actually tasted pretty good. And: together with a can of coke, we had to pay $ 1,50 per person! If you want to have a local meal for a decent price (which is extremely cheap in El Salvador) and at a very nice location in the city, you should really pay a visit to a place called Los Horcones. This restaurant is located at the eastside of the Parque Central, right next to the impressive Cathedral.
The restaurant looks very nice inside: one big wooden construction full of tropical plants and a second floor that provides you with a great view over the central square of the city. While having a nice breakfast, you can enjoy the every day life of the locals here.
The food: very, very nice! I had a local breakfast with typical black beans with cream, some bread and some scrambled egg. This together with a nice cup of coffee made it to a very nice start of the day in Santa Ana. And the price? For a breakfast like this you pay $ 2,50. Not bad, to my opinion!
