Another great building at the Parque Central of Santa Ana is the theatre. This construction was opened in 1910 and is a sign of the love for culture of the city. The building was first used as a theatre where opera's and other plays were performed. In the 40's however it was transformed into a moviehouse, to make this new medium available for a large amount of people.
Later, its function changed again into a real theatre. It is said that it is one of the best theatres in Central America. The inside -that I only saw on some pictures- is fantastic. A very beautiful "Gran Sala" in which the plays are performed and a beautiful "Cupula", the central dome, that is decorated wonderfully.
The exterior looks very colonial and has a typical, green colour. The decoration are made by Italian artists. Leave a Comment
