You might try to shed your urban frenzy on this unique island. You could set a tight agenda and try to schedule in everything within a rigid time slot. Or NOT. If you want to cover the entire island you will need a 4wheel drive vehicle. There are a few miles of paved road and then there are what the maps refer to as tracks. The track on the North and North-East part take you over rugged boulders, creeping along slowly in 1st gear. Road hazards consist of goats leaping out of your way or lazing cattle lying in the cool mud blocking your way.
Diving and Snorkling:
Don't expect much from Sandy Island. Too many years of yachts anchoring on the inside passage have destroyed the reef. Ivan washed away the palms. Arrange a trip out to White Island.
Visit Petite Martinique and have lunch.
The northern trail out of Bogles and drop down to Anse la Rouch for a hidden beach.
Try to get all the way out to Jack Iron Point.

Snorkeling with Cuthbert Snagg
Snagg was recommended to us and we realized that he is an experienced fisherman and boat.
He picked us up from Freejay Bay and took us to Saline Island and White Island.
He dropped us off over the reef between the two island and we snorkeled with the fast moving current to White Island. All the way he accompanied us with his boat making sure we did not get into any difficulties.
He provided a lunch box with fresh fruits and sandwiches which we ate at Sandy Island on our way back.
We also visited the mangrove trees at Tyrrel Bay which was not that exciting because it is just a vague attempt to save these fast disappearing mangroves.
The only drawback was that his boat did not provide any shade from the sun as his cover was in repair.
At Saline island you can see the ruins of an old limekiln. You can climb onto the ruins of the kiln and get a rewarding view of the islands to the south.
Day trip to Tobago Cays
The Tobago Cays are a chain of islands north of Carriacou in the Grenadines. There is fabulous snorkeling there. You will see lots of reef life and hopefully turtles. This area has been designated a Marine Park. You are not allowed to harm or take anything in the water or on/from the shore.
Some of my family were taken to Union Island by Cuthburt Snagg shown in this photo. From Union Island, there is a catamaran that provides a day trip with lunch http://www.captainyannis.com/.
Cuthburt also has a smaller boat and can offer water taxi services to nearby Sandy Island or White Island for half day trips.
You can also travel to the Cays via "Mostly Harmless" a boat operated by Dave out of Bayaleau, Carriacou near Windward http://www.carriacoucottages.com/activities.html.
