Hiking in the island of Grenada, Caribbean
The Caribbean has the image of being a beach destination. For most visitors, this is more than enough. But there are islands like Grenada that have a fascinating hinterland to offer. Rain forest hikes are an experience that few ever had in their lives. I have been conducting many hikes in Grenada and most visitors saw these as their most interesting experience. Beach to beach walksThe Southeast coast of the island is most suitable for this, in particular the area between Hope and la Sagesse. The hills are typically 80-200 ft high so by the time you get tired walking up, you’re already at the top. You will enjoy continuously changing landscapes, from glowing hills, to mangroves. And beaches, one every 20 minutes on average. As the sun shines on the trails it is OK to do the walk even after a shower. As you are exposed to the sun, bring at least 2 liters/ ½ gallon water (preferably frozen)...
