Annadale Falls

by heitzenrater

I found this falls ok, not nearly as nice as seven sisters, but has no hike. This falls also has local jumpers that jump into the water for money. Here are directions to the falls. There are no street signs so this will still be a bit challenging. I will give you directions for the simplest route, 1)Head north on the West Coast road (the road to St. George's). Drive all the way past the Carrinage and through St. George's past the fish market. 2) Turn Right at white round-about driving past the national cricket stadium (on your left). This is River Road. 3) After a half mile or so the road will fork, stay LEFT. 4) There will be one more large fork in the road about ... five miles (?) further up the road after you've climbed up quite a bit. Go to the LEFT. The rd. basically becomes a "V". The lower part goes to Annadale Falls and the upper part goes to the monkeys, Grand Etang Lake, and 7...

Take a Trip to Seven Sister Falls

Best falls on the island!! So next to the pictures are some descriptions to get to this falls. There are no street signs so this will still be a ***allenging. I will give you directionsfor the simplest route, 1)Head north on the West Coast road (the road to St. George's). Driveall the way past the Carrinage and through St. George's past the fishmarket. 2) Turn Right at white round-about driving past the national cricketstadium (on your left). This is River Road. 3) After a half mile or so the road will fork, stay LEFT. 4) There will be one more large fork in the road about ... five miles (?) further upthe road after you've climbed up quite a bit. Go to the RIGHT. The rd. basically becomesa "V". The lower part goes to Annadale Falls and the upper part goesto the monkeys, Grand Etang Lake, and 7 sisters (this split has one road on right go up, road on left goes down.) 5) Other then that...

Watch a game of cricket

by Henrik_rrb

As already written on my Grenada-page there will be the World Cup in cricket in 2007, and among the venues will Saint George's be. There is also the possibility to watch a game of cricket every now and then, since the sport is quite huge in Grenada. On my way back from the city center to the Foodland store I found this old cricket stadium. Although I doubt I should really call it a stadium...?It has two stands anyway, and the game which was some kind of qualification game for players who wanted to compete in a higher level later (in the World Cup, not too sure about it) draw a full house. Would say there were at least a thousand spectators at the game. The stadium is old, the stand is only built up in wood, and it's only place for spectators on one of four sides of the pitch. There was a small cabin where you could buy beer though, so I guess there was a reason to watch a game of cricket...

The market square

by Henrik_rrb

If you, like me, comes to Grenada expecting it to be a calm and peacefull place you'll get shocked when you enter the market square. Here everyone is shouting, cars are going everywhere, fast, and the drivers doesn't seem to care to much if they drive over someone or not.But if you're more prepared for the rush this is a nice place to buy specially spices from. Here you'll find muskot, kakao, pepper and lots of other spices. Around the square you'll also find shops where you can buy t-shirts, hats and so on.At the end of the square we find this guy who was the boss of the bar, the North Pole. Not sure I would call it a bar, as it was only a small cabin and where you would stand outside with your beer. But just the name would make it worth a visit. 35 degrees hot, and you name your pub "North Pole"...? :D

The church without a roof

by Henrik_rrb

In the middle of the south city center you'll find the church. But not the roof of it. Easily seen from the bay you won't have any problems to find it, although they hill up to the church is quite high, so be prepared for a good walk if you want to get there.I was told that the roof flew off the church during one of the latest hurricanes in the area. If it's true or not I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised. You'll find houses everywhere in Saint George's that still have huge injuries from the hurricanes. The church is unfortunately closed nowadays, so it's not possible to enter it. But you can walk halfway through around it, and inside the garden you'll have a nice view over Saint George's. And it's quite a spectacular feeling to see a whole church without a roof. What do you think about the way the guy parked his car by the way...? :)
