les saintes by sylvie-uk they are the island in the background of the picture. really worth seeing as it has an unspoiled beauty. you can visit them in a day or more if you like, for the lazy ones the best way is to rent a scooter for the day and for the more courageous ones walking. it has historic sites, beautiful beaches(make sure you see the beach with the"pain de sucre"), artisanal shops and galleries and restaurants, and a quit interesting house front which is like a boat. Leave a Comment Address: les saintesDirections: you can take a boat from guadeloupe at either "trois rivieres" or "pointe a pitre" or "st francois" and i think maybe "gosier" too

clear waters, perfect for snorlking by sylvie-uk day trip on a catamaran, once you get there, you can either be a lezard on the beach or snorkle as i did. i got very lucky and i had the chance to swim with an geant aquatic turtle for a while . the meal is included in your day trip and you usually get to eat some really nice barbecue fish and drink some rhum(hoops with the sun, careful). on the island you will get to see iguanas, some birds called the "sucriers" who were eating sugar from my friends cap, some baby sharks(dont worry they are in an area surrended by corals and cant get out) and some "bernard l'hermites"(they re like a crab but with a different shell, not sure of the name in english) Leave a Comment Address: i went with Paradox from st francois's port

by sylvie-uk A beach situated in the part called Basse Terre between ste Rose town and Dehais town. isnt it beautiful, i can seat there and just watch for hours, couldnt you? The part of the island which is called "Basse-terre" means low landscape in french and it s funny that it s actually the part of the island that has got the mountains with the highest point and vice versa for "haute-terre". did they drink too much rum while thinking of the names??????? I should ve ask but now i ve got the answer in my comments. thanks Lorgnierl. I ve got a preference for this part of the island. Leave a Comment Address: basse-terre

by sylvie-uk situated at the end of the part of the island called "haute terre". It s preferable to go and see it early morning as first it will be less crowded and second you will get a better clarity from the top of the hill to see all of the neighbours island: Desirade, Petite Terre, Marie-Gallante, Les Saintes and sometimes even more. Careful, no swimming there as the currents are really strong but you can swim on the beach on the left before you get there. Leave a Comment

unspoiled island at about 2 hours by boat from Guadeloupe. the island is really quiet so if you want a bit of a night life, it s not the right place to go. lots of writters and painters go or live there to get their inspirations. i went there for 3 days and came back totally rested. the locals say that Guadeloupe was like that 40 years ago, for example they still carry the sugar canne to make the rhum by cart. Leave a Comment Address: marie-galanteDirections: take a boat from Guadeloupe from either St francois, Pointe a pitre

"petit grain" in caraibeens by sylvie-uk "petit grain" in creole means "little shower(rain). these are quit frequent in the caraibeens and usually last for 10 mn. after a while you ll be able to feel when they are coming and wont get surprised as i did in the beginning. and now, i kind of enjoy them and just go for a swim with the rain battering the sea. pointe de la vigie by sylvie-uk Guadeloupe really has got different landscape for it s size. this part is quit dry and has got almost no trees but low vegetation and has got only a few beaches hidden in the middle of those cliffs. Walk around in this area for a few hours and you ll definatly loose some weight and some water from you body as there is nowhere to hide from the sun. Leave a Comment Address: between Anse-bertrand and the Moule

fish market by sylvie-uk In the capital "pointe a pitre" fishermen park their boat right in the center of the town and sell freshly caught fish from their boat. they are usually here in the mornings. But you can find fishermen selling fresh fish in most towns, just ask the locals for their locations. Leave a Comment Address: pointe a pitre market

market by sylvie-uk the market is open every mornings and is situated in the center of the capital Pointe-a-pitre. I love going there as it really reflects the life on the island. you can find a wide range of differents exotic spices, there is also a vegetables market. The shop-keepers usually wear the typical "antillaises dresses" and will all approch you to try to sell you their goods. Leave a Comment Address: pointe a pitre
