It's one of the nicest places you may find in Guatemala... a bunch of small waterfalls making natural pools along the river, which runs between two huge cliffs!
Beside swimming and chilling out... you can also hike your way up to the look-out point, it's a rough and long hike, but you'll love the view!
There's a Q$ 30 entrance fee.

There are pick-up trucks around the main square ... they'll take you to any hotel/camping/hostal, anywhere! The ticket costs Q$ 10.
If you are a little paranoid about safety, take the trucks that say "Turismo" ... those are supposed to be more 'official'.

Also in the area of Lanquin is a big cave. A magical place with the stalactites and stalagmites dripping and dripping...
We were told that just after sunset thousands of bats would come out to look for food. I've never had seen something like it before so we waited at the entrance of the cave, camera ready....
We waited a bit longer, and some more. The sun was long gone and we still hadn't seen any bats...
It turned out that when it's around full moon it's too light outside and the bats stay in.... So we waited all for nothing.
But if you're in the area of Lanquin and it isn't full moon (;-) make sure you check this out and let me know how it was!
PS: Be careful while walking in the cave. It can be really slippery, put some good shoes on!

Chemuc Champey is actually a natural bridge. The pools on top have clear water and are really nice to swim in. The river dissapears on one side into the earth, very wildly, and comes out on the other side as a calm creek. Kind of amazing!
It's a nice calm day out. Just hang around the pools and enjoy the beautiful scenery!

It's absolutely amazing to see: when you arrive at chemuc champey the only thing you see are calm pools with some small waterfalls coming over the edge...
But somewhere in the background you hear the thunder of water...

you walk further on and all of a sudden you see this amazing river of water dissapearing into the earth producing an enourmous thunder sound!

The pools here are set high in the mountains directly above where the river flows underground. The natural beauty of the place is amazing.
