euzkadi Says: Comalapa is very famous for it´s naif art, there are a lot of art galleries of this type of painting, and some of the painters like Andres Curruchiche are local celebrities. Here a nice painting of Comalapa´s church celebration by Omar Bal.
euzkadi Says: This church located at the main plaza, is a beautiful example of the colonial architecture with indian touch, the church was badly damaged during the 1974´s earthquake, and is closed waiting for a restoration, a new church with no interest was built beside the cathedral.
euzkadi Says: Most of the town of Comalapa was destroyed during the 1974´s earthquake, so a lot of the beautiful adobe construction disappeared, but is a nice town to visit, has character (most of the town walls have paintings) , and the women wears beautiful Kaqchiquel clothes.
