Patzùn Things to Do
This small chapel is located next to the main church, and is used as the town catholic church due to the restoration of the main cathedral, it was open and a mass was celebrated when we arrived.
This beautiful church located in the Parque Central (Main Plaza) is a colonial church now under restoration (so it´s closed). The Patzun area was part of the Ix¡mché Kingdom, but in 1540 the Franciscans arrived and started to built the church. They also brought the image of St Bernardino the patron saint of town. I found the church quite impressive and the market located just in front of the church very colorful.
The municipality is located in the Main Plaza in front of the church and is a beautiful example of neoclassical architecture.
Patzùn What to Pack
Luggage and bags: Patzun is located 2,200 metres high, so as in many other towns of the Guatemalan highlands, weather can get cold during the night so bring warm clothes or buy some of the nice and colorful sweaters made of wool in the market.
