euzkadi Says: More than 90% of the population of Patzun are Cakchikels, they are a group of indigenous people of Maya descent. Their culture is a mix of Mayan and Spanish influences. They wear traditional hand made costumes, and create beautiful works of weaving and wood carving.
euzkadi Says: Patzun is located 2,200 metres high, so as in many other towns of the Guatemalan highlands, weather can get cold during the night so bring warm clothes or buy some of the nice and colorful sweaters made of wool in the market.
