If you want some good ice cream while you are visiting Puerto Barrios, Sarita is an excellent place to go. There are many located in the Puerto Barrios area and they have really good mango ice cream as well as fresa queso (strawberry cheesecake).

Thanks for reminding me, Hunter... That was really neat. Recently we were pulling into Puerto Barrios on a ferry from Punta Gorda. In the distance ahead of us, miles away, maybe, were the hulking monstrosities of container ships, dwarfing us even at our distance from them.

There really isn't all that much to see here, but it's still a neat port town. Across the bay (large bay) there is a resort which looed really nice. We stopped there for a drink (ah, Fanta!) before heading up the Rio.
