Theres few tings to do in Santa Cruz. Its an isolated village out of the touristic path. It has an interesting church built by the dominicans made from stones of the nearby ruins of Utatlan. I dont know why, but i didnt feel a friendly atmosphere.

Besides the cathedral is located this interesting building also said to have been built with stones of the Utatlan ruins. Sta Cruz is well connected by bus from Chichicastenango and Guatemala city (almost every hour). The road from Chichi to Sta Cruz runs through a pleasant scenery of pine forest and the Lemoa lagoon.

If you are ever in Quiche, during the month of August, which is about a 20 minute ride from Chichicastenango go and see the local fair. There are performances and dances and a good time is had by all.

Laguna Lemoa is found on the highway that goes from Chichicastenango to Santa Cruz del Quiché. Offers a beautiful landscape and some recreation and/or rest facilities.

A pleasant day in Quiche

En route to Chichicastenango our cab driver decided to make a pit stop at the lagoons. It was like a slice of rural heaven. The waters are calm and the water lilies add to the picturesque scenery.
