Pan American Hotel: Local food

by flynboxes

This is a great place to eat right in the middle of Zona Uno in Guatemala City ie: the historic quarter. You'll see locals as well as tourists here inside the grande ole lady. Hey..I have a soft spot for period joints and cannot get enough of them I just had a simple dinner of chicken tamales and my requisite Gallo beer but there is plenty more to choose from and would recommend this place to anyone visiting Guatemala City

El Mirador: Best Burger in Antigua!

by growgs

This little restaurant is located right down the street from Cafe No Se inside El Caminante hostel, they have great drink specials and amazing food. Their rooftop terrace has an incredible 360 degree view of Antigua where we saw the sunset and Fuego erupt!Great place to grab dinner and a drink before going out! Th El Mirador Burger was the by far the best meal! Juicy, large, and served with out of this world guacamole. It also comes with grilled potatoes and onion so this 45Q meal will definitely fill you up!

Los Cebollines: Best Tacos and Salsa in Guatemala

by TravelGirl79

Absolutely ... hands down ... the BEST homemade salsa and tacos in Guatemala. When we are in Guatemala we will eat at Los Cebollinas at least 3 times a week because we cannot get enough of Super Ranchero taco platter and the salas that they make fresh at the side of your table. Each plate gets grilled scallions which are yummy! The atmosphere is very nice and relaxing and usually they have great AC which helps on those extremely hot days. You will not be disappointed going to any Los Cebollinas. Super Ranchero Taco Platter - Three different tacos - one with pork and salsa al pastor (tomato, onion and spices), another with beef, bacon, onion and green peppers and the third with chicken marinated in pibil, served with guacamole (sooo delicious!), frijoles charros (red beans, pork, tomato, onion, garlic and cilantro (sooo delicious!)

Ni Fu Ni Fa - Antigua: Ni Fu Ni Fa Antigua - Delicious!

by TravelGirl79

Each time we visit Antigua, I always have to go to Ni Fu Ni Fa. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is very nice. With most meals include the salad bar which is small but has all the essentials plus some delicious salads. Our meals have always been excellent no matter what we have ordered. The wait staff is always friendly and they do have English menus which they will offer to you without asking. If you are going to be in Antigua, do check out Ni Fu Ni Fa. It is a little more expensive but, well worth the money. Salad Bar; Half Chicken; Ni-Fu Ni-Fa Tipico Dish; Filet Mignon; Chocolate Cake

La Arepita Cafe: Best small cafe in zone 14 Guatemala

by ritam_fc

I found this cafe while visiting my friend in Edificio Santorini an apartment building in zone 14. I thought it was just a minimarket but they have a full menu, they have american and colombian food with some guatemalan dishes as well. I found it to be very clean and economical. It is close to the airport and to many of the hotels in zone 10, so it could be a good place to eat before a long travel day or before catching a plane. I had their Q20 lunch special which was delicious. I think the owner speaks english and they have a website www.clickguate.com, they also do catering and have other businesses on their website. I went back a second time and had their buffalo wings, they were the best I ever had. I think they sell their sauce to go, and one of the workers told me they sell it to the bars in zone 10.

Sarita Restaurants: Along the highway

by JessieLang

Sarita is a chain restaurant along main roads. The food was very good in the one where we stopped, and the ice and salads are safe. There is a guard in the parking lot keeping an eye on things. I really liked their tortilla soup.

Cafe Condesa: A Must for Sunday!

by cosmogypsy

Cafe Condesa is in the center of Antigua. It is very popular with foreign visitors because of the coffee and desserts. It is remarkable all the time, however, if you are in town on Sunday during brunch, go to the cafe. For about $10 you can get a delicious brunch buffee that includes coffee and juice. They have everything: Pancakes, Eggs, 4 salads, muffins, soup and dessert. It is well worth it and the atmosphere is beautiful. I lived in Antigua for a month so I was fortunate enough to be able to try a few desserts. I really liked the macadamian nut pie and the asian salad. I really would not have tried the asian salad myself but it was on the buffet.

La Fonda de la Calle Real: Guatemlan Yumm!

by cosmogypsy

This restaurant was excellent. We went for a late lunch and the chef came out to discuss the food with us. She explained to us how to use the sauces and the spices that came with the dishes. It was a wonderful experience and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. We had the vegetarian Pepian which was delicious. I think my favorite was the black bean soup with all the spices they gave us.

Cafe La Escudilla: great food and lots of it!

by iwys

La Escudilla is my favourite restaurant in Antigua. I've eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner here and they are all good. If you are a meat eater, the Paradilla Quetzal (mixed grill), including steak, pork chop, chicken, sausages, chopped tomato, avocado cream, black beans, bell peppers, onion and tortillas (yes, all that) is great. There are also plenty of vegetarian options and the salads are good and clean. A breakfast, including fried egg, 3 tortillas, salad, coffee etc, costs Q10 ($1.30). There are daily special meals, comprising soup, main course and soft drink, for Q18. This is the place to come when you are hungry. The courtyard eating area, with its lush vegetation, is very attractive and at the rear of it is Riki's Bar, which is one of the most popular travellers' bars in Antigua.Opening hours: 7am-midnight The Paradilla Quetzal. Although at Q62 it is just about the most...
