Cafe La Paix Hotel Intercontinental Guatemala: Mushroom Soup Anyone?

by TioArturoMucho

I ate here with a friend a couple of times dessert, which was pretty good, but the food, it seemed like it was made by a recent culinary grad student. I ordered Steak with a mushroom sauce, "Sauce", I was given Steak with what seemed like canned mushroom soup. I wanted to split a soup and I was told I couldn't. On another occasion I asked if Tarte Flambe could be made. I guess the chef was to busy. This guy needs a reality check, I need to go back there and eat like I need a bullet in my head... The desserts rock at St. Honore....

Chilis: A Poor Excuse For A Restaurant

by TioArturoMucho

O.K. Plain and simple, the food sucks, the nacho plate looks like something I saw on my last acid trip...The service has gotten worse. The food is horrible and the prices are a little too high. The beer is really good.

PanaRock Arte (Panajachel): Great Fish and Chicken

by peterma

PanaRock Arte is situated above the PanaRock Café in the main street in Panajachel (Lake Atitlan). They offer reasonably priced, great food. Certainly try the grilled fish and the chicken. Meals come with delicious soups. The PanaRock Café below is a gathering place for foreign residents.

There are lots of restaurants in Antigua Guatemala - all different sort of food - it's a pretty touristy place! You could also try Frida's (mexican), or Cafe Flor (asian) for good quality, reasonably priced food. We had a fantastic brunch at the best hotel in Antigua (whose name escapes me for present - but it is a converted monastery - their grounds are worth a wander around!)

Not sure this place had a name, but it was a family run restaurant inside the Tikal Nat'l. Park.Great little atmosphere associated with the place. The older women and men were cooking inside and outside while one of the daughters worked as the waitress. The food was hot, quick, and delicious. Oh and I forgot to mention; the total cost for 2 men eating and drinking their fill was $7 US. Amazing! Milanesa - thinly breaded and fried beef cutlet of meat. Combined with the fresh cut potatoes and rice I was served it was unbeatable. I was so tired walking around the park that I downed 3 or 4 Pepsi's and a Gallo (Guatemalan beer).

La Escudilla in Antigua: La Escudilla in Antigua

by bellatrix

Very nice gringo restaurant - it's great, it has an open air courtyard with vines and plants everywhere and candles giving an ambience to the place. When we entered, I felt like I was walking into a Kerouac novel, but swankier. They were playing John Coltrane, and I noticed that all of the patrons appeared to be travelers. This place is really busy, and really slow at night, so if you're super hungry, go somewhere else. Crema de zanahoria - cream of carrot soup, for 14q, and the verduras cocinas - cooked veggies with a dipping sauce for 6q. They have a really interesting vegetarian schnitzel dish too, that comes with rice and salad for 26q. Niiiiice.
