Restaurant/Cafe Nim-ja in Chichicastenango Huevos al-gusto, comes with huevos (eggs), frijoles (black beans), plantanitos (fried plantain), queso (cheese), salsa, tortillas, and cafe con crema or leche (coffee with cream or milk) - all for 20q. Excellent food!
Guatemala city give a large choice of restaurants. Since u should not go around in guatemala city after evening you will better have dinner in your hotel. If you go to Tikal, you can sleep in the town of Flores and there you will find plenty of small tyipical restaurants.Because of the particular atmosphere i found the restaurant 'Gran Jaguar' in Tikal a very good one.
There are many very good resturants for an excellent price you will be able to afford the finest. Also many travalers on a very low daily budget spend alot of time here because it can cost under 10 dolars a day. The atmosphere of some of the restuarants is superb. Just explore!!! Take a doggy bag from your dinners to give to the beggers, instead of money, you will both feel better! proper refied beans and all chix dishes! Also the local beer Gallo, trnslated= rooster
I would say Guatemala has very good international restaurants, but we do best in Steak Restaurants.Most restaurants are good and are concentrated in Zona Viva in Zone 10 near the best hotels in Guatemala City -Steak Restaurants-Sea Food-Italian
the atmostphere is so cool I dont care about the prices the best thing is that the food is delicious I would pay anything.special event is dancing is a beautiful place where you can dance I dont now how to say it. is the enchiladas and chiles rellenos and tamales and other kind of food those are the best plates.
Nice, friendly, clean, Caracol a la plancha was incredible. Caracol a la plancha. This is conch sesoned and grilled to perfection. Trust me, if you like conch, do not get anything else, you'll be staring and salivating at other's plates. What i did ('cause I love seafood) was ask that instead of white rice they serve me a side of rice with calamari. I do not know if they will do it for you, but we went with locals and the owner dined with us. Say hello to Don Jaime from the Puerto Ricans who visited him with Rafa Chang and mention that you went to see him because we posted his pic on the internet. He's a cool man.
The recipe for the conch is unique and different. In the Caribbean we have it marinaded in oil and vinegar and eat it as a snack with beers, etc, at the beach. This was a sphistcated dinner recipe. I loved it! Caracol a la plancha (Grilled Conch)- this wa awsome!. A nice steak of Conch grilled to perfection, acompanied with white rice and veggies. I, the capricious, ordered rice with calamari to acompany my selection and I was quite happy.
Listen, I come from Puerto Rico. We love seafood. We have great seafood. But Guatemala's seafood was awsome! If you go to Flores or Tikal (you must), there is a restaruant named 'La Estancia' on the road from Flores to Tikal. What you do is you stop there on the way to Tikal and let Victor (the owner) know that you'll be back for lunch/dinner and at what time so he'll have some awusome fresh fish for you. We ate the best grilled fish with veggies. These fish did not fit on the plate! They were about 2 pounds each. It's called pescado a la plancha. They also have perfect home-squeezed lemonade. We spent about $60 for four services icluding beers, lemonade and fish. Did I mention we loved it? I'll be posting Victor's picture and a pic of the restaurant so you'll recognize it on the road.
